Can anyone tell me how i can get rid of these two programs i have installed them but keep getting boxes to reinstall thanks .
-
hello Lance, Control Panel, then add/remove programs :)
-
I'll help to ask Lances question for him with a bit more technical info.
The programs have been uninstalled via the control panel. When you do a search for anything to do with either program (both from the same "stable" by the way) they don't show up but the "nag" screen still shows on 1st boot. There is nothing in the "start up" folder so the nag screen is being generated some other way. There is lots of info about a registry fix on the 'net but I'm reluctant to delve into someone elses machine in this way. It would need someone who would be happy to do a registry fix to remove the nag screen, both programs have dire reports on all the forums I've read.

Here you go guys - download this - http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
Install reboot computer then run it - if it asks if you want to save changes to registry click on no - it will first anylize all the old internet explorer rubbish then you can delete all that info - then you can run the registry scanner - then tell it to fix all issues - that should get rid of unwanted nag screens for you.

Thanks Dave, I'd heard of Piriform but never used it. (still got some bottles here when you're next passing).
Lance I'll try that for you sometime next week if you don't want to do it yourself. (hopes he says yes cos I just know Lance will get in a pickle lol & any excuse to enjoy 1 of Irinas lunch is worth the trip!).
-
These also another proggy called MBAM - google it - ita anti malware and works quite well too but it doesnt do what CCcleaner does.
-

-
Grabs me by the bo, oh this is a public forum, yes please Lance, that would be most lovely lol. Will ring to arrange a day/time.
Oh btw, Irina just serving the lunch makes it worth while, she's prettier than you!

Piriform failed to remove the nag screens. It says the file mia.lib is missing, any further ideas before Lance throws his laptop out the window? (Supacabby Mark) on Lances log in.

Download a copy of Malwarebytes Anti Malware from here (http://"http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button")
Install it and update the database, then boot to safe mode. Run the app in safe mode, it may ask for a reboot - reboot back into safe mode and run it again.
It would do no harm to run CCleaner also in safe mode.
The file mia.lib isn't part of Windows but often associated with third party applications such as InstallAware and AdAware. One solution would be to re-install the application if you can work out which one it is - it may be CCleaner, although I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks John. I've managed to remove both nasty programs now using reverse physcology! Reinstalled bearshare & imesh seperately but with a custom install to stop any automated functions then removed via Add/remove in Piriform & they seem to have relented, at last.

How did you manage that again Lance? :)
