I have today sent a letter to Taps Brewery istanbul to see if one of the entrepreneurial pork shop or bar owners will be able to purchase from them ,it was on sale in calis 2/3 years ago the hotel that has the Indian restaurant in it they used to advertise famous chef from Bradford ,undoutably the best turkish beer myself and friends have had over here ,think the name they go by is Red bitter and Red strong bot beer will wait and see .and i did check the letter twice to see if they could understand it ha:D ;)

The company that used to distribute Taps stopped supplying it in this area 2 years ago, its the same company that now distributes Tuborg!
I should know as Its my boyfriends company, the same reason they cant sell Tuborg to some Efes places, they cant sell Taps at the same time as Tuborg. Maybe Taps will find a new distributor one day, but I know they dropped it because it wasnt popular, I got the last dozen cases from the warehouse to drink! Very nice it was too [:o)]

Jules will his company be bringing Guiness to Fethiye, I understand this is available in some Tuborg outlets in Istanbul, tell him to hurry up please :D

They still sell it in Northern Cyprus and I have to agree, it is very good (the Bitter). Only on sale now in Istanbul or Ankara in Turkey I believe.

I fondly remember the Red Ale and Strong Ale - here is the brewery website in English if anyone is interested in seeing what you can't have :D

Diageo, the parent company of Guinness, bought out Mey Içki last year and is the company that will distrubte Guinness. basically anywhere that has carlsberg on tap will sooner or later have the black stuff flowing.

His company would be able to supply Guinness here . But the problem at the moment is that Draught Guinness needs a different gas than other draught beers, when the gas problem is sorted he will introduce Guiness to a few places but it will not be widely available yet,
also he says a keg of Guinness is twice the price than Tuborg, so dont expect it to be cheap

In light of new areas of great interest here on CBF, I've added a new forum to the "General Topics" section.

Going back to my pub training days i think you will find guinness does not need external gas it is a pressurized container no doubt i will be told if im wrong but I dont think i am . ;)
-
The draught Guinness does indeed need external gas to be dispensed but dont know if people know or not - Guinness is now dispensed with a CO2/Nitrogen mix which enables the thick white creamy head everyone loves. Apparently the mix produces smaller 'bubbles' to form the head. Bottled and canned Guinness always has a darker light brown head as its not got the nitro/CO2 mix.

Another solution would be to try for this ?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfs1_66hxj8 My local has one and the Guiness drinkers seem to taste no difference.

LOL want one!
