Title: FIFA Rules?
Post by: Colwyn on January 19, 2012, 09:43:17 AM
For those who dislike national laws being dictated by the EU how would you feel about being governed by FIFA instead? Here is what Fifa General Secretary Jerome Valcke has told the Brazilian Government about its 2003 ban on alcohol at football matches.

"Alcoholic drinks are part of the Fifa World Cup, so we're going to have them. Excuse me if I sound a bit arrogant but that's something we won't negotiate," he said. "The fact that we have the right to sell beer has to be a part of the law."

Yes, I suppose that could sound "a bit arrogant". Perhaps you could also instruct Qatar to scrap its homophobic laws.

No doubt FIFA will fully blame the Brazilian organisers for any drunken hooligans rioting or fighting, that may well blight WC 2014.
