good morning
i have been told that some one on facebook has said the canals are
nearly at bursting point in a few places around calis ,is this true
any info would be great.
-
I went across the upside down bridge last night, no problems
-
All seems ok on my travels around town, plenty of running water but not that deep.
-
Davo, they may well have been almost to bursting in the early hours of Sunday morning, I heard several times at the car boot yesterday that it was so, but on the upside, the water soon drains away
-
Thanks for putting the old grey matter to rest
-
It's on the Koca Calis part of this Forum that there is flooding in that area, perhaps that is what you have heard?
-
Just seen at the turkish NTV news channel that a female journalist fell into flooding water while filming the Belediye efforts to prevent flooding at Foca Mahallesi. She was rescued by her male colleague. The news are repeated every 30 minutes.
-
here in Koca Calis/Ciftlik the river/canals have burst their banks at about 6am ish this morning; roads, gardens & houses all part of the lake/river/canal system at the moment. Belediye have just got a dredger-type vehicle out to assist but a bit too late & it is raining again now
-

edited due to my ruddy phone writing whatever it likes..........[:(!]
-

That bridge with the damaged rail looks like the new one that is on the road that comes from the cemetery and goes down towards the Tugay to get onto the main road. We use that bridge all the time.
-
yes it is that one jacqui, if you go along the main road and turn right by the Pelin the bridge or whats left of it is outside the Lagoon Vista apartments
-
Oh Dear, that bridge is quite new too.
-
I cant begin to say how sorry we about Marjo's villa which is deep in sludgy water at the moment. Absolutley shocking in that area.
-
Cant imagine why they were hanging on to umbrellas when they are trying to get out of the water....surely they were as wet as they could get.
-
Oh good grief - feel so sorry for everyone affected!

Thank you Libra - looks a good site for local info, pity there isn't an English language version of the website I would have liked to read more on there.
-
how bad is it in that area Mercury?
-
Dreadful : :)
-
Has anyone got any more information on the canal bridge?
Did the canal burst its banks? what about the new villas that have just been completed, did the water reach them?
-
Tinx you seem to know whats happening did the water overflow towards the Lagoon Vista?
worried because our apartment is near there!!!!
-
I havent been over that way for a few days so not sure but will check it out tomorrow if nobody else comes forward
-
OK, Thank You Tinx.
-
This is the bridge that until a couple of years ago was a ford. As the river is in a cutting at this point it can only overflow rather than burst it's banks. From the video clip there did not seem to be much depth on the banks upstream. The level seemed to start to subside fairly quickly once the JCB had cleared the debris blocking the bridge. In these conditions any rubbish from the banks upstream is picked up by the flow and, at any obstruction, forms what is similar to a beaver dam.

We stayed at a friends apartment at Zackum Villas in August does anyone if they are ok and not under water. My friends are still in the UK until next month i think so would like to know so as to let them know.
Thanks
Alan.

There has always been a water problem with heavy rain, Rip up trees, build, build, build, same thing happens in the UK the town of Lewes is an example.
I have just looked at these photos of Koycegiz, feel sorry for every affected. Koycegiz returned to Venice (http://"http://www.fethiyedenhaber.com/news.php?id=1520")
I used to sit with Ali (Turtle Ali the Environmentalist)he often recited, humans have tried to play Canute for many many years, one day mother nature will avenge. He may look eccentric but maybe he is not so daft.
-
Bloody hell that looks bad. Where abouts is this?
-

I did worry when I saw this topic AND the current CBF logo !
(The one with the bubbles) ...............)

Definately not normal and definately not as much damage done as this before. Even Xmas was cold this year. Never known that before and there is tons more snow on the hills.
