Lived in Deliktas from 2005 to 2010, moved here because my landlord decided to turn my small turk house there into Duplexes and the only other place I could find which would accept my menagerie was in Calis, I hated the place before. never holidayed in Calis and never visited it while in Deliktas and I had many misgivings of moving. Just used to pas through it while on the way to the airport home, doing pick ups. Now lived here 2 years, but moved house again today! Still in Calis too. I admit I dont like the whole beachfront touristy stuff, and never have and Fethiye is still my 1st choice But Calis is very very slowly growing on me, just wish it wasnt such a ghost town in winter

Post by: Christie on January 28, 2012, 11:17:11 AM: We would op for the 'old' Calis of the 1990's - it had a lovely laid back charm which resulted in us coming back for more year after year. There have been many changes/improvements over the years, nearly all good, although we miss places like the Vadi Gardens restaurant but then again we enjoy lots of meals in the newer restaurants that are around now, especially Bella Mama - so it is swings and roundabouts. As far as Fethiye is concerned we prefer it now to how it used to be back in the 90s.

There are more things to do now so I would say I like it more now although these days we always have a car so can go where we like and have sold up in Gunlukbasi and bought in Delitktas.

without the personality it has now. I hope I always feel like this - but I guess one day I may find it too built up that would be a shame.

Post by: John H on January 28, 2012, 14:47:23 PM: We first visited Calis about 17 years ago and as we were driven from the main Dalaman Road down into Calis we thought that we were arriving in a 'shanty town' until we arrived at the rear of the Mutlu.
When we got off the coach and walked into the grounds of the Mutlu and saw the view of the bay across the Mutlu's garden and pool we were well and truely 'hooked' on Calis.
This supported by the treatment we received from everyone in Calis brought us back again and again.
We do not prefer any particular time in Calis as it as each visit is better than the one before.

Post by: Scunner on January 28, 2012, 15:44:22 PM: With the data so far, I have concluded that people generally prefer Calis when they first found it. That date varies from 1995 to 2010. Therefore it doesn't lead me to believe that it confirms it was better in earlier times, just that it is better when you discover it, even if that was last week :)

hotel, all behind the seafront at that time looked empty.
In 2005 bought our little place in the sun and have not looked back since.
The answer to the question is liked it then love it now

Post by: micky mouse on January 28, 2012, 19:41:51 PM: 1996 old calis for me,first landed in turkey over 30 years ago and the beach at dalyan was only full of turtles and not tourists.Had to be escourted as well.Visit my turkish friends in dalyan every year since then and always stay over.Love turkey cant get enough,but how things have changed since then.

I think the "feel" changed and during the time we lived there what was quaint became frustrating.... I really miss the weather, sunsets, views, slower pace of life and some of the people but have a new appreciation for the UK.

I love holidaying there now but I don't think I would make the move again.
