Title: Recomendations in the Calis area.
Post by: jacqtay on January 29, 2012, 20:26:07 PM
Hi all
If I begin with what Iam looking for this should help with your Replys.
After a horrible 2011 with H4u and Aegean going bust and my hubby spending months in hospital ..this year 2012 is going to be speacial to us.
My needs have changed compared to last year.
we are seeking a place that is on a level foot ( no hills )close to the Calis beach with easy distance to a water park for my kids and or a Hotel with water slides would be even better.
Being able to get from a to b with little effort is going to be the selling point for us during our stay.
As a family we enjoy meal times so eating out every night is our pleasure.
I have looked at many hotels within the Calis area and find it hard to choose.....With this in mind I would like to hear the opinions of the cbf people.
Budget is £1500 ( hotel only) for 2 adults 3 kids aged 13,10,7.. for 2 wks during September.

Calis is totally flat so no problem getting around.

The Aquapark is very central so again no problem from most of the hotels.

If the kids love water I'd choose a hotel with a pool, can't help with that as I am in an apartment here.

Eating out is very easy, you will be spoilt for choice from simple kebabs at 4tl upwards depending on your tastes.

Why not give us the top 5 from your research & see what answers you get?

Edit: Why not a 2 bed apartment instead of a hotel? Just a thought.

Given all those requirements the hotel that springs to my mind is Hotel Club-e. It is located between the water park and the prom, a few minutes walk from both. It's very peaceful with lovely staff and owners and good for the dolmus into Fethiye and the water taxi (about 100 metres roughly). Thomson Gold winner several times.

Not sure on prices though. Website here: http://hotelclub-e.com/

I suspect the top recommendations will probably be The Oykun or The Mutlu.

Well done Cabbo, everything covered there apart from what the lady was asking for - a hotel recommendation! :D

jacqtay - it will be no surprise but scunner's recommendation is far better than mine and is as good an answer as you are likely to get for your requirements,

We often stay at the Oykun, we have 3 girls, your close to everything but its quiet enough too, everywhere around is flat so you should be fine, about a 5 minute walk in one direction to the water park & 5 minutes in the opposite direction to the beach, my girls still love the hotel & staff, its clean & friendly here's the link to their web site, enjoy where ever you go, sounds like you deserve a good holiday  :)

I would just like to say that BIG hotels are not our thing, we like the smaller type hotels.
supercabby is spot on with his tips as this is how we visited Icmeler 2yr past.( just not this year).

There is a big difference in price of hotels in Calis so I hope to get us a good deal if I look hard enough.

jacqtay - perhaps you can have a look through this (please check details first though)

http://www.travelrepublic.co.uk/accomodation/hotel-availability.aspx?hguid=50963c09-dc94-4240-b10a-269015e1f007&sid=7944028

If you see something that looks appealing and suits the budget you could ask for members views on that particular hotel.

If it's small and friendly you like, two worth consideration in that very area I would suggest - they are more aparthotelly than hotelly - Ten Apartments [ http://www.tenapartments.com/ ] and Caretta Apartments [ http://www.carettaapart.com/ ] - both within 100 metres of the water park and both really friendly indeed. Both have ridiculous return rates of their clients - I've met couples who have been going to Caretta for the same two weeks, same room, for the last 500 years. Or something  ;)

I am sure it is me missing something here but someone asks the Calis Beach Forum, with it's 8952 members who have a connection of some sort to Calis Beach, to recommend a hotel in that place - the one resort we all know so well - and the best advice is to look at Travel Republic or Low Cost Holidays website??!!

Would you need a family room in a hotel Jacqtay?  Many of the family rooms are not on the ground floor.  Would you need a lift

Jacqtay, the Oykun is centrally situated. They have connecting rooms available which are good for familes. They also have 10 apartments which are well equipped. They are good at answering emails normally, but not sure about this time of the year.

Thanks agian for the tips people:Dthey are very welcome.
The Oykun looks very inviting.
Thats a good point cheers ,family room or 2 rooms next to eachother would suit us and no lift required for our needs.
I will keep looking  for another few days and hopefully make a choice... never knew this would be so hard to choose :)

Why 3 bedroom? 2 adults & 3 kids = 2 bedrooms to me & the lady has since confirmed that 2 bedrooms would be fine  :)

Scunner: I am not that up on the local hotels, more the layout & restaurants, that's why I answered some of the questions & left the rest for you :D

What's wrong with The Orient? Directly between the Aquapark & the Dolphinless roundabout, the location is exactly what's being sought but I rarely see anyone mentioning it, must be some reason why?

Shame the Club E is outside your budget, it's a very nice building with lovely grounds & pool, 1 street away from the Aquapark & 5 mins walk to the prom + as Scunner said good staff, especially the owner (it's 1 of the few hotels I've actually been in to for a drink!).

My hubby has told me to clear my cookies and search again ( not sure if he is trying to pull my leg) so I will as soon as I can find  them :)
The first thing I thought of when waking today was Hotel club e, so this is driving me nuts:D
S-cabby I think Highlander was thinking that a 13yr old may need his own room different to the 7yr old thats how I thought it to be anyway.

First thing first Flights to be booked today then hotel to choose transfers can allways be left till later.

Could you tell me if one part of the prom is bussier than another part and what part of beach is better for kids this would be very helpfull.

Orient is a changed place SuperC. It's rarely used by British people (which in itself is not a negative). We've walked through it a couple of times and it's very noisy. The music blares out all day from the bar area, and lots of the rooms are like a rotunda around this area, hence I'd presume it would be a nightmare if you were trying to chill out on your balcony. It's also mega popular with short stay Eatern European bus tours, coming and going at all hours of the day and night. We watched the continuous stream of coaches when we stayed at the Cenk Bay directly acoross the road. There is a security guard/s at entrance but anyone can walk in and are never checked in my experience of the place.

No, that is not the best we can do.
It is one of the things we can do and, indeed, have done.
There was some advice offered and considered before Highlander made his suggestion.
In addition, the suggestion was accompanied by an invitation to come back for some advice.

We have only ever stayed in two hotels in Calis, neither of which I thought suited jacqtay's requirements and therefore couldn't recommend them.

My sister-in-law stayed in the Oykun last September and was very impressed with it (as have many cbf members) which is why a mentioned it. Laffa has praised the Mutlu (again as have many cbf members) which is a good enough recommendation for me.

I could have simply listed the hotels in the general area but thought it more useful for jacqtay if she had some information about each and the easiest way for me was through Travel Republic. This would also give her a pointer as to the booking procedures which I think she said she wasn't familiar with.

I admit to being remiss in not including the Hotel Search on here as a suitable vehicle for jacqtay.

Hi,

with regard to Hotels I just saw your post. If you have not been to calis before you will find that it has a fantastic cheap Dolmus Service. (minibuses) that go everywhere. So, dont limit yourself to only Hotels almost on the Beach!  Certainly within your budget would probably be the Rebin Beach Hotel, I have stayed there for the past 3 years, mainly because of the value for money and the quiet location. It is a short walk to the Beach and the Dolmus stops opposite. Has one of the largest pools in Calis but no water slide I am afraid!

I will send details later as a bit pushed now.

This may be useful and some good pictures
http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g298031-d1063209-Reviews-Rebin_Beach_Hotel-Fethiye_Mugla_Province_Turkish_Aegean_Coast.html

Usually available through Travel Republic, sunshine.co.uk and sunmaster.co.uk.

As I said have stayed 3 times, enjoyed it, excellent value for money although have decided to treat us to staying in Mutlu on thye Beach this year for first time!

Eating out in Calis is cheap and varied, but the cost difference in B&B and Half Board used to be so small we booked half board last two years and ate in Hotel fo at least half the time! ( may not be so any more!)

It's approximately 300 metres to the beach and approximately 800 metres to the Viewing Point

jacqtay - not a blonde moment at all. The Viewing Point is a relatively new structure at the opposite end of the prom. It's a timber deck with seating where you can sit and take in the marvellous view and even more spectular sunsets.

Jacqtay - your inital post said "or a Hotel with water slides would be even better."

There's a hotel next door to Aydin Pide that has a water slide. I can't remember the name of it but I'm sure that someone on here will. It's about a 15 minute easy stroll up to the promanade from this hotel.

Yes that is the Rebin Beack alright, if you look on Goggle Eart and zoom you can see how big the pool is --ok --yes -- cos it is n300M from the Beach, but, at the price, the dolmus costs still make it good value.

I have heard great reports from Oykun but also they jumped the prices a lot over the years, also Harman is supposed to be very nice but a long way from beach.

Its always difficult, if you look up Delta Hotel, (way beyond your budget I know) it will give you an idea where the sort of centre of the Beach area is and where the water dolmus to Fethiye goes from -- worth taking that trip!

Only thing with Rebin Beach it is a long way from the Water park!

I think the hotel next to Aydin Pide that has waterslides and used to be called the Buse is now called the Buse  ;) The other hotel with in-house water slides is the old Aries Hotel, now the new Orient Resort and as all inclusives go, pretty dire by most reports.

It is fairly quiet, depending when you go there is a large German clientele but quite a lot of Brits. I actually found the germans very nice, and most spoke english, and, they are well behaved!
We actually have made friends with some and have kept in touch.

I always go in September, and ther emphasis changes as the month goes on to more Brits. They dont get a lot of children there in September though so they may be only ones!

I can tell Im gonna have a hard time choosing our hotel :)

Hello Jacqtay,I realise you are inundated with good suggestions, but one very good one is missing.Try researching the Hotel Sekatur. It is right on the beach.family owned,in its own gardens.A large pool, with pool bar.The mini bus (Dolmus) from Fethiye stops outside. The owner and staff are excellent, and room costs economical. All rooms renovated this winter.Although listed in various travel company sites for direct bookings call 00902526220890. Fax 00902526221145,or www.seketurhotel.com  The call to the main number may be redirected to Melis, who speaks excellent English.Good luck
