We're out there again at Easter and Monday the 9th April is our wedding anniversary (10 happy years - been married 18).
I was thinking of surprising mrs B and taking her somewhere special.
Where would you recommend, bearing in mind we're vegetarians as well ?
Otherwise we'll probably end up at Bella Mammas
-
Why dont you try out the 'New' Bostans?it will be up and running by then.Romantic setting and new menu with lots of choice for vegetarians.
-
Highlander did a list a couple of months ago of the best restaurants voted by the Forum Members in numerical order.
I am sure someone will remember where it is and put a link.
-
Kings garden good menu nice and romantic lovely views and they will pick you up and take you home . ;)
-
..and tell you to hurry up and eat your dinner if someone is waiting
-
I've had some good meals at a few restaurants but I find the problem you get here is consistency, Cafe Inn has probably been the most consistent for me for food but in terms of location and atmosphere it loses out as 'best' restaurant.
-
Do King's Garden do that, that was on our list for this summer but don't think we would like that to much:(
-
They did to us six and to be honest we weren't that impressed with the food anyway.
-
Cant please everyone we have eaten there a lot never any problem good food plenty of it always extra veg or salad at no extra charge never been rushed out of there ,have used cafe inn 4 times nothing special 2 good meals 2 bad meals ,bella mamas never had bad meal,a few people say the new cafe Roka just past cafe inn is very nice enjoy.

Sorry, I have no idea which ones will be open on 09 April.
-
sad to say but I wouldn't class any of them as 'special'
-
That is sad tink. Although Blackadder didn't mention other locations (Fethiye for example) is there somewhere you could recommend.
-
we got rushed in Kings Gardens too, and sent to sit on another table. Food was mediocre too.
I agree, none of the restaurants are great, always end up a bit disappointed and feeling that I could prepare better myself.
I think the issue is that its Turkey and why should they be able to prepare an English style meal to a very good standard?
However if you go to a Turkish Lokanta and have good honest home cooked Turkish food its delicious.
Having said that Serkul 2 do a darn good Chinese.
-
It is run by a friend of mine and I have not been there personally but perhaps someone has. It's the Yengec Restaurant in Fethiye.

Most places in Calis will still be closed anyhway in April. Bella Mammas wouldnt be open then either. I agree with Linda. We read so many recommendations on here and mostly dissapointed. Best meals we had were at The Flamingo in Fethiye and the carvery at The lighthouse in Calis. Both gone now. Not much variation in the menus is another problem.
-
I agree that most restaurants that are recommended generally fail to make that "special" grade, or if by some chance they do, it doesn't last long. We found Saraphane at the Ata Park Hotel to be special and consistent but pricey and our other fave was Kale Park which was always first class for us but that didn't seem to last. That's why I agree with kayakebab in a way, I'd rather go to Recep's in the fish market or a lokanta such as the Sahil - because knowing you are going to get good food every time without fail has become far more important to me than chasing the elusive "special" restaurant.
I must also say that I thought the same as Highlander - if I needed a special restaurant I'd probably try Yengec - but entirely based on the photos I've seen - I haven't yet read anything along the lines of a review as far as I can remember.
-
If you want something really special there is Kizilada Island, but that will probably not be open in April. Also I could recommend the Yacht Classic Hotel in Fethiye. It's one of our favourites for a lovely meal in a great setting.
-
Got to agree with Keith on this one,I am a vegetarian and am always most satisfied with my meals at Lokantasi, often "no frills", but always great inexpensive food, and I'm sure if you explain to the staff it is your anniversary they will help make it a special occasion !.
The best vegetarian meal I've had in Turkey was in Kabak in The Olive Garden restaurant, a simple broccoli gratin thing with home made bread, simple but absolutely delicious !, you obviously have to be prepared to travel, or make a night of it by staying in one of their chalets (if they are open then) and this was the view from our table !!.

Cant beat serkul 2 for price 18 tl as much as you like but it is rubbish chinese sorry thats why people dont eat much .:(
-
What about Mozaic Bahce in Fethiye ? Surprised its not been mentioned yet, loads of info on the forum if interested, opens 2nd April unless anything has changed.
-
Wouldn't be averse to going to fethiye as we plan on popping over 2/3 times to see the reprobates at the kismet.
-
Then definitely the Mosaik Bahce if you plan to go into Fethiye. Consistent and super food. As mentioned previously, we would seek this out in preference to going somewhere 'air conditioned' and 'plush', simply because of its consistency, the atmosphere and of course the wonderful Nik and Dogan - who make every night a special night.
-
have to agree with Pooks on that one, Mosaic Bahce is excellent in its consistency and probably because it concentrates on traditional Turkish food, well worth a visit.
-
Yes I have to agree with the last 2 posts Mozaic Bahce is definatley worth a visit as it is consistant and very good quality food. Last time I was there in October I have to say I struggled with the size of the portions which were very generous!!
Hope you go and enjoy like lots of others :)
-
Would agree with all comments so far on Mozaic Bahce and in particular teetee's.
My advice would be not to eat for at least 24 hours before hand. ;)
-
Well that sound like its sorted then. Whereabouts is this place ?
-
You will get far better directions than this blackadder but here goes....
If coming into Fethiye on dolmus from Calis....
turn left when getting off dolmus and head into Fethiye.
take second road on the right
go down to Domino Pizza
Mozaic Bache is down to the right.
-
Perhaps this is of more use (if not too small a scale).....

-
Try the mixed meze starter (all vegetarian), and the chick pea main meal, delicious !! ;):D
-
if you can find Domino Pizza its behind there
rasp! to highlander
-
I see you're popping those "e"s again ;)
-
There soup is the best in Fethiye

I have to say that some of the best food I have ever tried is whilst being in Calis. I have had amazing meals at La Casa Di Mamas, Harem and Barbella's.
I suffer from coeliac disease and was so worried about eating in a different country especailly since in England I have been made ill from cross contamination. But the staff I met at the restaurants were so helpful and made me tasty gluten free food.
Barbellas even made me a gluten free brownie on my secind visit there.
I couldn't pick one great restaurant in Calis because I rate so many of them. But I will say that the Sicilian chicken at La Casa Di Mamas is delicious!
