Title: Have a listen to yourself Sir Alex
Post by: Highlander on February 11, 2012, 22:45:33 PM
I have great respect for the man, but is someone who was manager of a player who commited a vicious criminal assault on a spectator, is manager of a player who was banned over drugs and is manager of a player who is "playing away" with his brother's wife, really in a position to be calling another club's player a disgrace.

Also a manager of a player who slept with prostitutes, two at a time whilst his wife was pregnant.

Just like a lot of other managers he sees things through his own biased viewpoint.  I just wish he'd give us all a break and retire.

He is the manager of the team I support, can not complain of him as a manager, but wish he would keep his mouth shut sometimes and his nose out of things, strange he saw Suarez not shaking hands with pathetic Evra, but did not notice Ferdinad refusing to shake hands with Suarez, then you get Evra's antics at the end of the game, and Evra chasing after Suarez down the tunnel at half time to demand an answer why he refused to shake hands with him, I would have done the same if I had been Suarez, Evra has tried several times to get a racist remark to stick but never managed it until the last time.

We have got Shagger Giggs and Rooney, Druggie Ferdinand who did not turn up for  a drug test, hell he was banned for around nine months I think then got a pay raise when he came back, drugs found in his restaurant, and only last week United had to apologise for a racist remark by one of the fans, plus there are loads more that are kept quite.

The Christmas party Ferdinand planned for United players and loads of prostitutes and strippers there to entertain the team.

The FA stopped the handshakes when Chelsea played QPR because of Anton Ferdinand saying he would not shake Terry's hand and they thought it was better to do so, so why did they not do the same against the Liverpool United game.

Would you shake hands with some one who had accused you of being Racist and been found guilty at an unfair trial, I know I sure as hell would not have done, but then again good old SAF was the one who started all the trouble there by going to see the ref to see what he was going to do about it.

Evra's foul last night that sent Ferdinand flying through the air when all the time it was intended for Suarez but he missed.

SAF I think it is time he kept his mouth shut and some of his views regarding players of other teams to himself, who the hell he thinks he is to say a player should not play for Liverpool any more.

It's not what SAF said it was what KD didn't say. I have never seen a club's reputation drain away as quickly as Liverpool's and all while in KD's stewardship. Kenny is either against racism or he's not; if he is then stand up and be counted. Funnily enough this was the first match I can recall ever when I wanted MUFC to win. As for clouding the issue with statements about what an eegit SAF is, we all know that, it's not about him, is it?

Has any of you read the FA judgement, is on line and it's free. It's also very very clear on what and how things were said and done. I really do advise that you read this before you defend anyone. Great win.

Sorry, it's all about SAF he plays mind games and manipulates the media. The press seem very blinkered when it comes to M.U. Lets not forget Ian Wright accused Schmeichel of a racist remark as long ago as 1990's and guess what, nothing every happened. Two weeks ago a M.U. fan was arrested for racist behaivour at Old Trafford, again nothing reported. Then yesterday before the match a M.U. Fanzine was being sold outside Old Trafford with racist pictures of Suarez and disgusting comments.  The police swooped on the sells  and the magazines where confiscated. The Department of Public Prosecutions is being consulted about arrests on this. Also a guy was arrested for racist a tee shirt he was wearing. Perhaps this sort of thing before the match may have caused a riot as SAF suggested, None of this was reported on T.V. I wonder why?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-16996748

I personal think this is being blown up out of all proportion. Wayne Bridges refused to shake hands with Terry. Then the last couple of matching involving Terry had no handshakes. Ferdinand refused to shake hands with Suarez. Evra, as said before tried to foul Suarez then caused trouble in the tunnel and then at the end, again could have caused a riot by his celebration in front of Suarez. Remember Suarez said he was innocent, so we only have Evra's word and we know he has tried to pull the Racist Card many times before. So, how did Suarez feel when knows he is not guilty but is suppose to shake hands with the man who got him banned for 8 games. Suarez is mix race and his best friends in football are black he says himself he is not a racist. So does his best black friend who played for Ajax with him. Even Evra said Suarez is not a racist. Kenny like Fergie is backing his player.   I also think it would have been better for Suarez to shake hands at the beginning of the match, but in the end, it was his choice. Also, it would be best if like Rugby, the handshakes came at the end.

As put by one commentator Kenny is outraged at everything and ashamed of nothing.

"There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must take it because conscience tells him it is right."
#8213; Martin Luther King Jr.

I trust Kenny to do the right thing.

By the way Suarez has just issued an apology, and Keith hope I hav'nt used too much space up, ;)

If I had wanted to discuss the racism issue I would have mentioned in the title.

What this thread was intended to be about was one manager attempting to tell another club how to deal with their player.

Seems Kenny and Luis Suarez now agree with SAF their behaviour was disgraceful. I'll take note in the future not to discuss anything not explicitly included in the title of a thread because in this instance it's not like it's relevant or important is it?

Their was no trial. Witness statements taken from both parties were then verified via video evidence. Spanish linguists were also consulted on the likely meaning of Suarez's term negrito. It's all there in black and white, Evra was more upset that a player of Suarez's standing called him a nixxer 5 times.. Suarez gave a saement that he only said it once and that he meant that as gesture of endearment. The FA then corrected this and stated that it was in fact 7 times but that Evra did not hear 2 of them.

Fergie said at the start of it that this was between the two players and not between the clubs. 'King Kenny' well, made a mess of it from the start. however how do we know if Suarez was telling 'KingKenny' the truth, after all it's just come out that Suarez told 'King Kenny' his boss, that he intended to shake hands. He then proves himself a liar again and makes a fool out of ' King Kenny' and The ' mighty' Liverpool football club.

The words written down within both witness statements are the players own words. One has been proved a liar and the other vindicated, read it. Oh and an indication of Suarez's character was plain to see when he was an Ajax player. He is seen, on tv, to sneak up on an opposing player and sink his considerable teeth into his neck. I think that was a 9 game ban! Lovely fellow just the type of man you would have at your club......NOT.

They have both done the right thing by apologising for Saturdays behavior. Evra should now apologise for his antics after the game.
The one thing I would say if Suarez or Liverpool thought he was innocent, there is no way anyone would allow themself to be branded a racist and accept an 8 match ban, if they thought there was a chance of being found not guilty.

JAVACOFFEE, Read the account of SUS and the others, and get your blinkers off, pity you never came on and said good game when we beat you, you are the type of person who wants to be heard , but wont listen,
but you had to stick your oar in, your posts always give an indication of the person you are, pity you have reared you ugly head again,
funnily enough, I stated a long time ago that you were a short fat hen pecked man, apparently it turned out to be correct, I could go on forever about Fergies refusal to shake hands, Ferdinand would also take a while, so would Giggs, rooney etc without having to go back even further, you are hypocrites not us, calling us scouse b*****ds, when a scouse b*****d scored your goals, get a life,

You do have to feel a bit for the guy, and Kenny especially - condemned for standing by his man, while Suarez was condemned for the original act, for not shaking hands, for not apologising and finally for apologising. Surely the episode is over now.

I think the mistake Suarez made was (apparently) saying that he would shake hands. There is no law that says you have to shake hands at the start of a game or that you have to shake hands with your accuser.

I agree Scunner - this has been done to death by the media and we need to get back to the football.

CALM DOWN, don't get your hub caps in a spin Luffa. Just read the FA report and get the truth. I think you will find that my post was aimed at asking people to READ the report before sticking up for that man. It's not often you can get an independent view on something like this.

javacoffee - you seem to be like all the other Man U supports in that you singularly did not answer my original question which was given what Sir Alex has presided over (see jacqui harvey and stoop's amongst others posts) in his time as manager, is he really in a position to take the moral high ground as far as the Suarez affair goes. I think not.

Incidently, whilst I know Fergie has backed Mancini re Tevez but I haven't heard him calling that player a disgrace or calling for man City to get rid of him.

Must be that time in your life luv. I have lovely wife and family, and a pretty good sense of humour, but come on. Anyway, Highlander what is the actual point of dragging up old discretions of various footballers. This is about one man taunting another with remarks about the colour of his skin. The difference is that you can read the statements given by both parties and make your own mind up. Instead of just slagging off one of them because he plays for for UTD.

Everyone has piled into Fergie but not one of you has made a case for Suarez. So how is Suarez right? I have read the FA report and Suarez admits saying it once, but the FA said it was seven times. Evra said it was five times. Evra's statement is proven to be accurate, Suarez was proved to be unreliable.

All' I wanted to point out was that the FA report was worth a read before you make a cock of yourself. Think about it, how would you feel if someone walked up to a Turkish friend and said your a xyz. You would stand up and say no, that's not right.

Well I hope I am not going to upset all those who have posted on this topic, but I fail to see what most of this has to do with the initial comment. In my opinion Fergie should not be telling other managers or clubs what they should or should not be doing, regardless of the issue. Whatever the rights, wrongs or what opinion he has he should not publically make these sorts of statements.

Imagine his outrage if the boot was on the other foot. Fergie hysteria, ban the media, stop talking to the BBC!

The rest of this incident has no bearing on the subject. Ooops.

Ribena head has refused to shake hands on a number of occassions, as far back as 1986, when Scotland  played Uruguay, 0-0, he would not shake hands with their coach, must be the whiskey getting to him, or selective memory loss.typical.
