The Harem is no more, it has been taken over by Mete of the Golden Moon and is undergoing a major refit and will be re-named Karab-ba (village).
I really liked the Harem and think it was probably one of the most reliable for quality food and great host, if Mete can replicate that he will do well:P ;)
-
Sorry to see it go as it was a favourite of ours.
-
Shame we used the Harem regulary but must saying that back in September we did not think the meal was up to its usual standard.
Good luck to Mete the new owners and we will give it a try on my first visit in May 8)

Good luck to Mete on his newest venture. :)

I know someone that will be devastated. Anyone remember the guy who reported on here that he and his wife came to Calis each year and ate at the Harem for the 14 nights of their visit. I seem to recall he did not trust any of the other restaurants on the prom and would only eat at the Harem. He did say some of his children had been over and were actually tempted by other restaurants but he stuck to his one and only.

Maybe this will be his chance to try somewhere different!! :o :-\ 8):D :)
We have our favourite places to eat, but it's always nice to try somewhere different; somewhere recommended by other people. There are just so many lovely restaurants in the Calis/Fethiye area, it's a shame to always eat in the same place. :P
I'm not sure if we've eaten in the Harem, so maybe it's us who have missed out. :(

Ahh thats a shame. Not that I dont wish Mete well of course but I take it that will mean no more Mehmet on the prom? It certainly will be the end of an era.
-
---And a good morning to you Jacqui.
I think your memory in regard to my previous posts on the Harem Bar are slightly at odds with the facts.
I will try not to be devastated for too long and one of those untrustworthy restaurants along the Prom might take pity on a hungry outcast.
Very best of luck, Mete, we'll be over in April and look forward to seeing you again.

Good luck to Mete. Hope he keeps up the standard. The Harem was the first prom restaurant that we ate in back in 2004 8)

It is a shame but presumably Mehmet has decided to concentrate on his other business in Ibiza (?). We used to go to the Harem on a regular basis years back, but for the last few years it seemed to lose its way a bit - food/service not so good.It is always a shame to see long established restaurants go. It will however be interesting to see how it progresses with Mete, it is an ideal spot so hopefully he should do well.

I am sure Mehmet has now gone for good, the reason he sold up is he was spending too much time in Spain and Istanbul.

so, will George of the Harem be back in Dennis the Menace's this year? it's good to see Mete still working hard and expanding his empire, so long as he doesn't do what Rick Stein(the chef) has done in Padstow! I wonder if residents of the Golden Moon will get a discount?
