Tomorrow at 5.45am, me and me other 'arf, are doing a special train trip to York and back by 11.30pm. It's an old train and goes via the Settle line. I haven't heard of that. I believe its very scenic. And Stoop, what's the weather like as we have 4 hours in York before the return journey home?
:D

Have a read of this and you'll see what a treat you're going to have.

Oh yes!!! Sounds great. I'm a bit of an anorak when it comes to old trains, so really looking forward to this.

Oh well, we'll have to call you Chuffa in future. ;)

Toky, a trip on the Settle to Carlisle railway is a great experience. Sounds like you have a fantastic day in front of you. The weather should be good too, if not quite as glorious as the last few days. You'll find plenty of ways to spend 4 hours in York too, it's a lovely city, as I'm sure Stoop will confirm when he sees this post! :)
Enjoy your day.

Well Toky, if you love old trains you must pay a visit to thr National Railway Museum, you could spend a couple of happy hours in there if it's raining.

I have actually been ther before buddy and was in my glory. It's a fab place. Last first time I was in York, they'd just dismantled the big wheel the week before. Looking forward to a wander down the Shambles and a wee vino in the sun.
:)

Let us know how you get on. I often have to drive to Langwathby to pick up my daughter from this station when she comes home from university in Leeds.

The Shambles is OK, but for me it's either Stonegate or Low Petergate that are much more interesting & have much better shops & restaurants. Wherever you decide to go, I hope you have a lovely day in the city where I spent 7 years at school

Sorry Toky! For the first time in ages I have missed a full day on CBF! Hope you had a great day. I love Settle and that train ride must have been brill.
Had a few problems this week so time on line has been limited :(
