Since a hosepipe ban was announced and I purchased a water butt it
hasn't stopped raining :(.On the bright side our swimming pool is
full ;)
-
Didn't the government advise that you should store it in jerry cans?
-
Such a change for us north of the border to have had such a glorious week. It's usually us who get all the rain.

We bought a nice new hose pipe last August and the day we tried to use it, it rained, we used it for 2 days this year at the beginning of April (just before the hose pipe ban came in) and it hasn't stopped raining since, but at least both our water butts are full. Cannot wait to get to Calis and get some sun - just under 4 weeks to go. Geoff have you got a swimming pool here as well as Calis ??

Ho ho.
Actually it is outclassed by 1976 - the driest summer in 200 years. By August the entire countryside seemed to be yellow-brown. The Labour Government made Denis Howell Minister for Drought. He went on a tour of the country and everywhere he went it began to rain. And rain and rain and rain. He was nicknamed Minister for Rain. But it continued to rain and rain and rain. So the Goverment changed his title to Minister for Floods.
I remember seeing a TV news programme showing a town in Somerset where household water had been shut off and the population had to fill buckets from standpipes in the road that were only switched on for two hours. The townsfolk had to struggle to get to the standpipes - wading through two foot deep flood water!

It was pouring down at 7 this morning when I got to work and it hasn't stopped yet.
What a crap day!

Thats a blast from the past, do they still have spar shops up there, i thought the coop bought them out, or was that just England[?].
-
H, enjoy your weather while you can. The front seems to heading your way. Although the forecast is for it to weaken I reckon there is plenty more water up there. We have an inch of rainfall so far today at it shows no sign of giving up.
-
Loads of Spar shops all over Scotland still.
-
There are over 2500 stores in the UK. Perhaps not the sort of place in which Des shops. He's probably more a Kipa, Harrods and Sue Sheppard sort of guy.
-
Lovely weather in Aberdeenshire this weekend. The Garden Centre today was packed out.
Past at least 2 Spar shops on the way back Des.
