I went along to Bostan's first Curry evening yesterday. There was a good selection of food available and I sampled everything!
The recipes were authentic and excellently cooked.
The restaurant was almost full and I suspect this will become a very popular evening for those who enjoy Indian food.
I had only visited the old Bostan's site a couple of times as I am not a fan of the beach restaurant strip.
This was my first visit to their new premises. The garden setting of the restaurant creates a relaxed and attractive atmosphere.Service was friendly and efficient.Generally a very enjoyable evening and I look forward to visiting again to sample the menu on a non themed night

I agree with Jon six of us went last night the food was excellent and lots to choose from, each dish was labelled with the contents and how hot it was. Well done Carol and staff.

Hi there. It's Carol here from Bostans. I actually have a bit of a family emergency and was dashing back to the UK in about 3 weeks and was going to cancel August's Curry Night. However, having read the last 2 posts, I might simply delay it to the Third Tuesday as I should be back during the second week. Nothing definite yet as have to find out flight days etc so please bear with me and I will keep you posted.
If anyone want any details on next week's Curry Night (re dishes, times and booking etc.), please feel free to contact me (Bagpus).
-
Lol Carol we are looking at moving our holiday forwards now so don't delay or move anything on our behalf.
Hope all is ok with your emergency and can't wait to visit.
-
I hope the emergency is not too bad....if the curry night does happen in August then add it to the calendar on the forum and we will see you there
If you don't have access to add to the calendar then contact Keith/Scuner
-
I heard they had 76 booked for this weeks Curry night. Hope it is a success.
-
Carol now had to stop taking bookings as 82 now booked in.So if you havent booked folks you will have to wait till next month.Kitchen looked liked scenes from the Argie Bargie yesterday. The aromas coming from there were wonderful.Fair made my mouth water.
-
Is there going to be a curry night in August? Anyone heard? ;)
-
Do you have to share tables if there are 70 odd bookings or can you get a table for 2....preferably not next to the toilet door ;D?
-
Toilets situated nowhere near the tables so you'll be ok Janmack where ever you get a seat.Unsure yet about August curry night. Will ask Carol to post when she knows.
-
Hi. It's Carol from Bostans. Letting you know that I will definitely not be in Turkey the first week of August, so the next Curry Night will be Tuesday 14th August. Will resume as normal in September. I will have the menu planned by next week if anyone wishes to know, though the nan bread will certainly be a permanent feature from now on.
Please don't worry about seating, we can seat 90 easily and have 10 tables for 2.
The 2 sets of toilets are in the reception area and at the back of the swimming pool, so unless you would prefer to eat in either of those areas ;), you will be well away from that problem.
If possible please can people book so we have a rough idea of numbers. Will attempt to put this on the calender now. Sounded easy!
-
Damn....missing it by a week again...
-
Fabby...looking forward to the curry now ;D
-
How was the one this month. Not heard any reviews and would really like to go to the next one.
-
Keeping it to ourselves Ann, won't be room for us else. ;D
-
Thats good enough a review for me Baz. x

I said earlier in this topic that I had never had a good curry here (apart from in HisarönĂ¼ Shine) but I have never had the chance to come to the Bostons Curry night.
I have since then been filled in by those that have and it sounds like the curry selections to suit all tastes plus accompaniments are just fab; just like the real thing and not a cover all effort that suits most people.
I do hope these are a feature in the winter months as I would the chance to come along a try it out :P :D
-
Will attempt to put this on the calender now. Sounded easy!
You need permission to be able to add events to the calendar, which you have now been granted :)
-
our friends were raving about how good the food is, and we will defo go in sept if it is still on
-
The Curry Nights will be a regular 'first Tuesday of the month' event throughout the winter. Every month the main dishes will vary, but if anyone has any special requests I will have a go at anything. Had one for a Bangalore Phall next month so be warned!! :P
-
Great to hear Carol I shall look forward to it. I was extremely impressed to hear that you do all the cooking... :)
-

Thank you for your comments. Glad the Phall didn't put anyone off.
In reply to Keng38 we can take bookings if you email me direct through my Bagpus tag on this page, we do not have an online menu but I can send you a copy of ours no problem. If given a days notice I can also do a curry meal with various different starters and main dishes if you wish.

It maybe me; but I've never been able to find a good curry.
Well it is very difficult to get a good Curry that really is Authentic outside of Rushholme in Manchester and Southall Middx. I always smile when I see things like "Chicken Tikka Masala" which was an invention by Bangladeshi people in UK to feed the British! About 80% of the "indian" restaurants in the UK are staffed by Bangladeshi's, some of whom can cook, :) , preparing dishes that are about as authentic as a plastic antique grandfather clock! It is a shame but we now have two types of Indian food, -- real -- and----- restaurant --- and the latter is often appalling but people do not know any better! It has improved in recent years, and sometimes quite reasonable, but still hard to get properly cooked food. For a start they wont take the effort in proper preparation and cooking, you need a high turnover to offer a large menu -- so what they do is prepare a sort of "basic sauce" or "Gravy" (I am shuddering), and add chicken. pre-cooked Lamb etc. to it in many cases. If your food is served 20 minutes from order -- its not genuine! So, to eat really good Indian food you need a) the right ingredients -- not "sauces or pastes" b) the right cook (Easy for me, wife, {she taught me to cook it} actually from India). However if you work at it you can get close, and it really isn't difficult -- but no "short cuts" -- no substitutes -- and --- no hurrying :) I will try Bostans to see what it is like, who knows I may be very pleasantly suprised as you certainly dont have to be from India, but you do have to know what you are doing :)

Actaully not true, it can be 10 minutes from order in a genuine "fast food" environment like Nirula's in Delhi, even looks like a sort of McPatel's with the overhead dishes and prices and the counter with the POS termionals etc. The slowest dish is the mixed Thali which takes 10-15 minutes becuase most of it has been cooked and is gently simmering away -- but they feed hundreds of people and hour so it is refreshed constantly -- and it is a limited menu! But pages and pages of menu means -- poor.

Is the next one September 4th? Can someone confirm and I'll add it to the CBF calendar...
-
I think so. I hope so, I need my curry fix.
-
Hi. The next one is this tuesday 4th, and thank you for offering to put it on the calender (had various attempts but never got it rightand got too embarassed to ask how to do it a third time :-[). We are actually fully booked with 98 people so I am not taking more bookings, but would really appreciate you advertising our October 2nd Curry Night? ;)
-
Ok - if you start a new topic for the October one I can then link it to the CBF calendar.
-

-
Looking forward to October 2nd curry night :)

We went for the first time last night and have to say that it was excellent. All hot plenty of choice and as authentic as we have ever had in Turkey. Well worth the 16TL and we will be going again next month I hope.
