Is it tue that the restaurants away from the main promenade are cheaper than the ones on it? And if so which would you recommend?

There's some lovely little lokantas near the Devlet hospital, follow the signs for the ACIL ( emergency) department.
good home cooked tasty food at reasonable prices.
Agree Seckin on the Gunlukbasi road is excellent, they also have a branch near Bimeks electrical shop in Fethiye and  opposite the Otogar
Lots of cheap tasty eateries by the Otogar all serving Turkish food, prides, kebabs, home cooked food etc.

We found a gem in  Fethiye last week, next door to Samdan in Fethiye, down a side road from Ramadam clothes shop.
7tl daily menu, soup, bread, salad, moussaka or chicken casserole, rice, grapes in cinnamon juice and water included.
best moussaka I've had anywhere except maybe Seckins.
Main course changes daily, but always soup, rice , salad and fruit

I was sure that the restaurants away from the front were cheaper but we haven't eaten in many so couldn't really comment.

kayakebab - to delete click on the last icon on the right (the one with the bucket) and that will take you to a confirm deletion page. Hope that helps for the future. :)

If you mean down the main street then Gunislik without doubt. Also known as Frank Cannons and The Meeting Point. All really nice people and much cheaper than the sea front. Gunislik give a free beer. glass of wine or soft drink with their menus and they do quite a few Turkish meals. They also do an excellent doner kebab if u just want a quick snack.

I have to agree with Mercury - you can still eat VERY cheaply in Calis/Fethiye if you want to. Also do a CBF search for "set menu" - some I have seen on boards as I walk around are amazing prices - on the prom and off.

I also agree with Mercury.  Gunislik is one of our favourite places to eat as a family - you can't beat their prices, and the service is outstanding too!   :)

(Anywhere that gives a free glass of wine is excellent in my books!   :o )

mkwhite's post did ask about restaurants. I'm not sure that the places mentioned by people in their replies are chip shops or snack bars.

We are returning again, this will be our 5th time and the reason is because my husband just loves eating at Gunislik. He will be in there morning noon and night (not a complaint but a compliment!)Food is always tip top and service is fab.

I wouldn't go in there quite that often  ;) but when it comes to great quality no nonsense meals you can't beat the place - I was there last week as our flight arrived quite late and they were still open (and quite busy. Quite a rough crowd in though [Private joke, sorry :D]

Old Frank Cannon's as we know it - simply can't be beaten for value for money.

dave c - if you would like to make a small donate to Childern's Charity you could obtain a copy of the Bar/Restuarant Guide which shows where many of the establishments are ;)

Sorry, couldn't resist the opportunity to help the kids. :)

It's on the main street, on the right about half way between the bridge and the dolphinless roundabout (I think).

Fancy a Bar/Restaurant Guide  ;)

Does Seckin in Gunlakbasi have just the one priced menu now?
Last time I was there they were using a higher priced english menu
compared to the same food menu but lower prices with the menu
in Turkish

I've never seen a 2 price menu in Seckin, if there is a discrepancy in price I would query it.
They don't have much of a menu anyway, more a case of go in and point!
Delicious food, one of my favourite places, I will check next time I'm there, would be very disappointed and surprised if they're doing this.
