<b&><font size="3"&>The 3C's annual Charity Promises Auction will take place following Carnival Week on Wednesday 6 June. The auction will take place on Calis promenade outside the Nil Bar, Moussaka Restaurant and the new Bambu Restaurant (formerly Dennis the Menace) and the auction starts at 7.00 pm. All visable items up for auction will be on display from 6.00 pm in the admin area located inside the Bambu restaurant.
We already have some great promises pledged for this very popular and important fundraising event which is the premier fundraising event of our year and all proceeds from the auction go directly to help the children in the local area.
Thanks to the generosity of our "pledgers" and our bidders both the 2010 and 2011 auctions raised 9,000 TL each which went a long way to helping the kids. We would love to equal or better this total in 2012.
A list of the "promises" pledged so far follows and I will then add to this list on a regular basis as new "promises" come in. If anyone would like to pledge a "promise" or donate an item for the auction please could you e-mail me via my profile or at info@caliscarnival.com or you can ring 0536 3739520. All "promises" will be gratefully accepted.
As, in previous years, if you are unable to attend the auction and would like to bid for an item (or items :D) you will be able to make e-mail commission bids both from Turkey and the UK. Bidding instructions both for on the night at the auction and and by e-mail follow.</font id="size3"&></b&>
<b&><font size="3"&><font color="maroon"&><center&>BIDDING INSTRUCTIONS</center&>
Those attending on the night wanting to make bids will be asked to complete a form on arrival at the restaurants giving your name address and contact details. You will then be provided with a "Bidding Number" card (cost 1TL) as in UK auctions. You will also be able to pre-register and obtain a bidding card from the restaurants during the same day. You will not be able to bid unless you have a bidding card. This makes it easier both for the auctioneer and for administering the winning bids. Money will be collected on the night where possible, "Promises" issued and official receipts given. For those unable to pay on the night, payment will be required within 7 days of the close of auction or the item will be withdrawn. In these cases the "Promise" will not be issued until the payment is received.
For those bidding by e-mail, please e-mail me with your commission bid through my profile on this forum or at info@caliscarnival.com
Advise us what you are bidding on and how much you are prepared to bid up to and our auctioneer will bid on your behalf up to your maximum bid - just like a real auction or on e-bay. Bids will be accepted up to 12 midnight Turkish time (10.00 pm English time) on the night of Tuesday 5 June when this facility will close.
All e-mail bids received will be acknowledged within 24 hours of receipt.
If you are a winning bidder we will e-mail you the day following the auction and advise how much the item has cost you. It will not necessarily be your maximum bid. We will then advise you how to make your payment (there are different methods depending on whether you are in UK or Turkey). Payment will be required within 7 days of the auction or your bid will be void.
You will receive a copy of your "Promise" signed by the person donating by e-mail giving full contact details of how to contact them and how to claim your promise as well as a receipt for your payment once the funds have cleared through our account. A hard copy of the "Promise form" will also be sent to you in UK by the next supporter who is returning to UK. We will also arrange for any physical goods to be delivered to you as and when this can be arranged.
I hope that this clarifies the bidding system which has worked successfully for the last 5 auctions.</font id="maroon"&></font id="size3"&></b&>

Hi Barrie, have updated the list for you. As far as I am aware there are a couple of watches of yours to go on but will clarify this with you when you get here. There are also loads more meals and other great items to go on once we have received clarification on these from the pledgers. Looking forward to seeing you both when you get here.

-
We can't get there quick enough. Love to all, have a great carnival week.
-
Thanks for all the work that it takes to post all those photos :).
Just to let you know Jacqui's website should read www.grannieusedto.co.uk
-
Yes, but no use going there for a Mammoth as Tinx advised. I sold the last one a week ago.
-
One out of 3 wasn't bad!!! Thanks for pointing it out H - website details now amended.
Jacqui - a real shame about the mammoth - I heard that they make great steaks for the bbq but would have thought they might be a bit tough after all this time :D
-
No worse than some of the meat that we have bought there Chrissie.
-
There have been some great promises donated today.
For anyone reading this thread please note that the updated list (which will be updated daily as new promises come in) will always remain right at the start of the thread on page 1
-
We have had some really good meals promised today from some of the big Fethiye restaurants - there are more to follow tomorrow so please keep watching and bidding:D as online bids are now being taken. See the first post on page 1 of this thread for the full updated list of Promises as at today - this will continue to be updated daily as new promises come in.
-
Please submit your Internet bids to Pi55y ASAP and why not send the link to this thread and ask your friends and family to join in ? The worst thing that could happen is that they will bag the bargain of a lifetime
-
Also please feel free to link to it/like it/share it on Facebook - if that gets any new attention and one extra bid it would be worth doing.

Cagney (Busybee) and Lacey (Mecury) were out again today with the begging bucket and aquired another 11 fantastic promises. Many thanks to all the businesses who kindly gave us something.

Thank you and happy bidding!! Good luck :D
-
Chrssie hope you receievd my bids ok, dont want to keep emailing you as am sure you are inundated with emails at the mo :)A quick question how do I know if I have been out bid, I am hoping to be able to attend the auction but if not will I be notified so that iI can increase my bid if I want to, sorry I have only bid on Ebay before never at a proper auction :-\
-
Karen, if you're outbid by another online bidder, Chrissie will email you, so that you can, if you wish increase your bid. If you don't attend the auction, & are outbid by someone who does, then I'm afraid that they will win the item.
-
oh many thanks Liz :)
-
Hi Karennina, I have received your bids and have sent you a confirmation e-mail. Thanks for your support.
-
There are only 4 days left for online bidding so please make sure that if you are unable to attend the auction on the night and you want to bid on something, that you e-mail me as soon as possible. Thank you :D
-
I am so excited about this:Dwe will be sending you a few more bids later today Mr Karennina wants to have a look at the list.If I am lucky enough to win any of my bids do we pay on the night, or if I dont make it to the auction how do we pay you please :D
-
Hiya, if yoy are able to make it to the auction we would prefer payment on the night. However we do give everyone 7 days to pay - this gives people a chance to hit the cashpoint after they have impulse bought :D:D:D If you are unable to make it on the night we will e-mail you to advise if you were a winning bidder or not, how much you have to pay and arrange to meet up to collect the payment if you are still in Turkey or we will give you bank account details to pay into if you have gone back to UK. Hope you find lots you like on the list - it is growing by the hour :D:D
-
Have emailed you Chrissie with my updated bids some are in gpb and some in tl hope that is ok :)I am soooooo excited about this and I am saying my prayers every night until Wednesday that I win all my items:D

It's Auction Day, Whoopeee !!! Mrs Rimms has made her list and is on a mission to get her hands on several of the fabulous promises this year, she is not a woman to be tangled with and so I warn you, watch out !!
-
Dizzy Jan has all the paperwork ready and is on a mission !!!!! ......... should be an excellent evening ;D ;D ;)
-
We have a total of 160 promises - some really great items this year, at least 6 being sold specifically for Bozalan School project. We have a record number of online bids. There are auction catalogues prepared and bidding numbers ready. Please make sure that you register - it costs only 1TL - this covers the printing costs of the catalogues. You CANNOT bid without a bidding number so you may well miss out on a really great bargain if you have not registered.
It should be a great night and we hope to make loads of money for the kids. We hope to see as many of you there as possible.
Happy bidding - tonight is the "Real Deal" ;D
-
Wish I was there at the auction. Good luck to all involved and happy bidding to prospective bidders.
;D
-
Mrs Rimms has made her list and is on a mission to get her hands on several of the fabulous promises this year, she is not a woman to be tangled with and so I warn you, watch out !!
Just tip me the wink when she has spent enough of your dosh & I'll get the lads to sort her out!!
-
I keep telling her Liz that we are on a fixed income these days, but does she listen .........
-
Good luck with you first guest appearance as auctioneer tonight George.....Hope you know what you have let yourself in for. ;D ;D
-
Bloody Hell, I know know !
-
Ha ha - what happened and how did it go for those of us unable to attend :(
-
And did Mrs Rimms get what she wanted at any price ;)
-
It was a superb night with a huge amount of money raised. Dizzy Jan and Pi55y will no doubt announce the final amount later but I can say it's a record without doubt.
Congratulations must go to our auctioneer George who did a terrific job - he very nearly lost his voice :)
Sincere thanks to everyone who attended, everyone who donated and everyone who made this a ""special night" to remember.
-
Most of us are just surfacing, as it was about 2am before we got home : :) Fantastic night, great atmosphere & it looks like we have made a record sum of IRO 12,000tl :o if everyone coughs up for everything they've bought. A staggering result, thanks to the generosity of all our donors & buyers ;D
-
Staggering it most certainly is - huge congratulations to everyone concerned. I'm not sure that we fully realise just how much work has to go into this to achieve such and outstanding result.
Well done again :)
-
It was an absolutely amazing nite and I cant believe the genoristy of people, to think we probably topped last year by 3,000TL is awesome. Sometimes the atmosphere was just electric. Hope everyone had a good time and will enjoy their promises. A special thankyou to Murat who walked from Olu-Calis and raised an incredible 570TL for us, we even auctioned his t-shirt for 20TL :) Well done and huge thanks to all our supporters and businesses. Team give yourself a huge pat on the back THE TEAM DID GOOD. Now give yourself the day off!!!! some cant I know, cos auction related work will still be going on for the next few days.
-
Sounds like we missed another great fundraising night :(
well done to all involved, such a lot of work goes into this and they all deserve a BIG pat on the back..
-
An absolutely fantastic night, the best ever, and George our auctioneer did an amazing job.
Thank you everyone who supported this event and a huge thanks to the team who worked really hard not only on the night but in the weeks and days before to make this event run smoothly. As Liz has said we hope to have raisied a record iro 12,000 TL but we have to wait for all of the money to come in before we can announce the final figure. As a few items were being auctioned for Bozalan we hope to have paid for a few more desks.
Also a big thanks to Murat for his sponsored run which raised even more money for the children.
I will be e-mailing all of the commission bidders sometime today to let them know how they got on.
-
Another fantastic result. Well done everyone ;D
-
We had a great time and have to say as someone who has attended Auctions for over 20 years now, George was a great Auctioneer and said just the right things to encourage the bidding. Think he missed his vocation in life.
Anyway, congraluations and well done to everyone concerned. We would not have missed it.
-
Great result! Well done to all those involved :)
-
George was a great Auctioneer. Think he missed his vocation in life.
Maybe so Jacqui, but his CBF AKA would have been a lot more boring
-
Well done to everyone involved, George certainly did as first class job of Auctioneer, a brilliant effort by all concerned
Mark
-
Thanks all for the compliments but I have to say that the team effort that goes on behind the scenes in order to make this happen is just phenomenal, it's a bit like Formula 1 where the car would never even reach the start line, let alone win a race but for the endless hard work and dedication of the team and that is exactly the case with the 3Cs. Well, we not only won the race, but if you liken our performance last night to F1 qualifying, we came in about 3 hours ahead of the second placed driver. It really was a super result. Let me just put in perspective how fierce the competition was to win some of the fantastic lots we auctioned last night, Chris had made a list of 9 items that she wanted to bid on and had decided the maximum amount she would be prepared to pay for each item, I was a bit shocked to learn that her 'shopping list' came to 1,500 lira !!! In the end she won just one item off her list, this just shows the fantastic quality of the 'Promises' we had on offer last night.
Anyway. I think it's time to lubricate my tonsils, I turned the microphone on at 4pm yesterday and turned it off at half past midnight, so if anyone needs a Barry White sound alike voice over, then I'm your man.
Finally, thanks to everyone for the generosity that you showed last night, whether by internet bid, there in person and even those who weren't bidding but gave a donation, one man walking past handed me a 100 lira note for the charity and the effort by Murat who ran from Oludeniz to Calis was sublime. All we have to do now is start working on how next year we can top this !!!
Bored with retirement?????I don't think so
-
Just an observation on my part but there have been members posting about fairly trivial matters today but have not congratulated the people behind this fabulous effort.
I just find that strange.
-
Brilliant acheivement folks. Well done to all, AND I was successful with my bid. Chuffed
;D
-
Well done. Thanks for a brilliant evening. Another 3C's masterpiece. An incredibly well run evening. The auctioneer was a gem. Look forward to next years. (will bring out some more chocolate).
-
Impressive amount. Well done!
-
Started to use some of the items we won at the auction,
Health check for two. Both healthy, that's a relief ,
Peel and foam bath at Nevada Su,very relaxing! Birol and Funda were great give them a try,
Many thanks to all who managed and contributed both time and items to this very successful and worth while cause.
Roll on next year!!!!
-
Its good to get feedback on the items auctioned. Good or bad because we may be able to put things right so please feel free to comment on any items that you have bought. We dont just want to sell them to you we want you to be happy with them. I am glad you are pleased with your purchases George.
-
Agree with Mercury, would be a great idea for people to say what they bought and how they enjoyed it. It would be interesting to read. ;)
Cannot report back on the Teeth Whitening until September thought. My son was already going to have this done before he got married, so it being in the Auction was a real bonus. The appointment is booked for two days before the wedding so he will have a brilliant smile as will my daughter-in-law (pending) because the auction was for two. Will post some pictures later on. Thanks again for all the hard work the "crew" put in to achieve such a great result in raising so much money. ;D
-
Well I bid and won the "Mulberry Bayswater" bag. After some great planning, it arrived I the post a couple of weeks ago Wasnt expecting it till July so it was a lovely surprise. Delighted. Thanks
:)
-
Yes, saw that bag Toky, very nice.. A girl after my own heart.
-
Its lovely to hear that folk are chuffed with their promises makes all the begging, foot soldiering worth while. Anne and I are looking forward to going back to all our benefactors to give them their certificate of thanks, well maybe when its a bit cooler lol.
-
We used the first of the 'Promises' we won last night which was a meal for two people at the Moussaka, the only question we were left with following our meal was " Why the hell is this place not packed out every night?"
The meal was lovely, Chris had the garlic mushrooms to start, it came in a sizzling platter and had onions mixed in, I went for the special roll which was like a jumbo cheese roll but stuffed with chicken and vegetables, it was delicious.
We both had steak for our main, Chris had the red wine sauce and I went for the pepper sauce, both cooked medium rare were absolutely lovely.
We couldn't fit a sweet but just to be sociable, I had a brandy and coffee.
It was a great meal and staff and service were first class, sitting there last night took me back to the seven hours we had spent outside Moussaka doing the auction last month, that was hard work but last night was pure pleasure until I started to think about how the hell are we going to top 15,000 lira next year !
Well done and thank you Moussaka for a lovely evening. Report on meal and night in the penthouse suite at Boston's to come.
-
Rimms, you make me sad not to be back there but Shirley and I had a great night with Peter and Chrissie on Monday last. We did ourselves proud at Wetherspoons in Lytham. We didn't eat there but we went through a few bob on the wetter side of getting together. Shirley has already started getting her bits together in readiness for next years auction. Hope to see you soon. Barrie.
-
A great night out Barrie and Shirley, thanks. Also thanks for donating the first of next years's auction lots. See you soon x
-
Hi Barrie and Shirley, great to hear from you and glad you had a great time with Chrissy & Pete and even better news that you've had Shirley out doing a few more jewellery shops! Hope to see you both soon.
Last night we took up our promise donated by Carol and Recep at Bostan's. The prize was a meal including a bottle of wine followed by an overnight stay in the Penthouse. We took the opportunity to spend the day at Bostan's and booked in at about 11.00am, after booking into the room and enjoying the lovely view over to Fethiye from the roof terrace we ventured down to the lovely pool and gardens, swim, sunbathe, a few drinks and lunch were taken in that order.
We were impressed by the choice of food on offer which is all cooked to order and many of the dishes are not seen on the menu elsewhere, we also noticed several people having the Sunday lunch which looked lovely. For dinner, I went for the pork chop cooked in cider and tarragon which was really nice and Chris equally enjoyed her Chicken with apple and brandy. There was loads of other things that tempted us on the menu and we are booked in to try the monthly curry night which happens first Tuesday of the month.
Once again, thanks for donating the promise to the charity and we both enjoyed our day thoroughly.
-
Keep the reviews comimg even if they arent favourable, We can then "forget" to ask the said place next year. We welcome all reviews of restaurants as well as gifts that you may have bought. My friend is doing "The Sun Dial day"which is an evening meal with wine and a night in the hotel with breakfast. and a dive day next week so I will report back on them. The return transfer by A2B was really good. They will be using them again so there kind donation has already earned them 2 more regular customers.
-
Review of The donation from The Sun Dial Hotel.... Dinner bed and breakfast. Our friends bought this from the Promises auction amongst other things and they were over the moon with the Sun Dial. They were given a room overlooking the pool and the whole of Fethiye and it had a lounge area and kitchenette in it... Great if you are staying more than the one night. They had all of the afternoon there and they were given the choice of anything they wanted off the menu. They said it was really excellent. A nice sleep in a quite room and then a delicious breakfast..... They will be fighting people off if this gets donated again next year. It was a superb donation. Thanks Murat.
-
Yes, many thanks to Murat at the Sun Dial - one of my favorite places to visit - sounds like this was a super promise :) :)
-
A review of the Discover scuba diving day donated by Lykia World. This was taken by my friend who dont read the forum.... He has always wanted to do this but by his own admition didnt have the nerve until this came up at The Promises Auction. He was told that he could also take his wife for the day for 20 quid. So she took them up on it. Andy kindly picked them up on his way to work there at 7.a.m. He took them to the restaurant village and said they could eat and drink anything they wanted. He settled on bacon butties as he was slightly nervous. His wife had the full works.lol. !!! Andy advised her where the best pools where. how to get around and do the little bus tour. Rick was taken for his suit and given very comprehensive safety advice etc. 5 skills!! they then went diving but he wasnt happy so came back up. Andy was absolutley brilliant!! calmed him down and said if he wanted to give up that was fine but as he had come so far it would be a shame and "should we do just another 10 mins" which due to Andys skill and patience turned into one of the best 40 mins of his life.... Andy never left his side the whole time. He got a certificate and will be trying it again next time he comes over from England. It was a lifetimes ambition and had he not been at the Auction would probably never have realised it. They also got a superb lunch at the amazing restaurant and spent a lovely afternoon at Lykia before being brought home again by Andy. So a big big thank you to Lykia World and in particular Andy and I mustnt forget Lin his wife who helped set up the day with me on the phone and kept me informed of everything they would need. I believe that there was another dive day sold so if anyone knows who took it could they let us know how they got on. Also The All inclusive day at Majesty Tuana?
-

Thank you Bob for letting us know how you found your "Promise purchases". It's always a pleasure when we hear that people enjoy them.
I'm certain that next year's Promises Auction will be well advertised here on CBF and do hope that we can meet you again :) :)
-
Word has it that we already have some excellent and unique gifts for next years Promises Auction. Shhhh!!!!
-
Dont forget for anyone who has bought meals at the Promises Auction that they have to be taken before the end of THIS season. I still have 2 but as one is a romantic venue I will be saving it towards our Ruby wedding in October. The other I am waiting for until it is cooler weather. Pie and mash and a pudding with custard from pies and pasties. Roll on October.
-

This place is seriously good.Check it out,www.yengecrestaurant.com.tr
Many thanks to,the 3c's for getting this promise, top of the list for next year please.
And to Mustapha and his staff for being so professional,
-
Forgot to add our review - sorry! We had our meal at the Chinese Breeze and it was really, really good. I am afraid this is a restaurant that we have previously walked past and never bothered with but we were very impressed with it. We had taken our daughter with us so we paid for one extra person which was no problem at all. Highly recommended and now we will eat there again. Thanks 3Cs!
-
Some fabulous reviews here - thank you for letting us know how the promises turn out :) :)
-
We have a massive target to achieve in next years auction, if anyone can help out with a 'promise' however big or small, it will be greatly appreciated. I think we had about 160 promises this year and so I guess you can see the size of our task in these tough times.
-
They are coming in already George but shhh!! All reviews are welcome even if you were disapointed but it has to be said that we havent had a bad review yet??
-
Sorry but I think you might have got hold of the wrong end of the stick on my reply. I'm not a bit disappointed about any review, quite the contrary actually, I was just hoping to stimulate people to think about 2013 promises. Like I said, we have a big target to beat.
-
No George. I meant if anyone was dissapointed with a promise that they should also let us know then we can either sort it out or "side step" the same promise next year. Also we have promises already coming in for 2013 but we are keeping them secret. Wouldnt want to spoil it.
-
Barrie and I went to Pies and Pastries today for our "pie fix" after the hot Summer. The deal was choice of any pie meal with chips or mash mushy peas and gravy. Any hot or cold desert for afters. We chose the steak pie with chips and lemon cheesecake to follow. It was really very good. Barbara came in with us for a cup of tea. Decided to buy herself a sandwich and pinched half my cheesecake I might add!! Lisa didnt charge for any of our drinks either and she also gave Barbara her lunch for free. Not a fortune I know but a lovely gesture all the same.... She is also baking us a cake to sell at The Coffee morning at Bostans. Very happy now my tummy is full. Thanks Lisa......The lemon cheescake is delicious!!!!!!!!
-
A bit late, but we got the two teeth whitenings at the Auction and they were used by my son and his new wife two weeks ago before the Wedding and they were both delighted with the treatment they got and the results where "sparkling"... We look forward to the 2013 Auction as we know we will find somethings that we will want to bid on. ;) ;D
-
Strangely enough, we saw Jacqui Harvey and her family in dentist Cagatays waiting room considering the auction was held in June and by pure coincidence we both chose to take up our treatment promise in late September.
Chris won the two dental veneers ( sometimes called ceramics) she had already had four veneers carried out by Cagatay a couple of years ago and was delighted with the result, she chose to pay for a further two to go with the two she had bid for and won in the auction.
The treatment was started and completed in just a week involving just 3 visits to the surgery and once again thee results are first class. She has now decided to have the old black fillings in a couple of back teeth removed and replaced with white, hopefully, that will complete her 'Hollywood Smile'
We have to send our thanks to Cagatay, both of his promises were not only very valuable items raising an awful lot of money for the charity but it seems both recipients are really happy with the end result.

We finally got around to taking our Promise last week. Pete had been successful in bidding on the days sailing which had been "promised" by the forums's Kaptainkrunchie (Peter Jackson) who is a RYA sailing instructor with Gocek Sea School which is part of Portway Yacht Charters.
Peter and his lovely wife Marion picked us up in Calis on the Tuesday morning and we drove to Gocek where we boarded the Orla Grey, a very nice 37' Bavaria yacht. After motoring out of Gocek we put the sails up and had a lovely few hours sailing around the bays before stopping off at the small restaurant at Kucuk Sarsala bay for a delicious pide lunch and drinks which was all included in the promise. By the time we left the restaurant after a long relaxing lunch where we found we had no end of friends in common, we set back for Gocek. Unfortunately the wind had dropped by then so it was a motor back - but still very pleasant to be out on the water.
We would like to thank Peter and Marion and the Gocek Sea School for providing a fabulous promise which we thoroughly enjoyed. We understand that Portway Yacht Charters has 22 yachts and cats to charter and that the sea school provides a full range of Royal Yachting Association sailing courses leading to qualifications including the International Certificate of Competence (ICC) so if anyone wants to take up sailing we would reccomend both the competence of their instructors and their boats.
