What a complete to55er Hodgson is! Usual FA yes man! Why no Micah Ricards? Why no Rio Ferdinand? How is Downing in the Squad? How is Carroll in the Squad?
England will not win a game! Hodgson out!!!

I must say my first thought was the same as your Downing observation - how many times does he have to frustrate us by contributing nothing game in game out!!! We've only just got rid of Heskey!

I agree with all this except I think it was right to leave Ferdinand out. I don't think he's good enough anymore to cope with the best Europe has to throw at him.

Downing, just a joke and I've no idea why Terry is in as he looks average nowadays.

Oh well at least we won't have to waste too much time watching them this summer.

I won't be watching any of it. I refuse to watch England until the FA realise they have to appoint a forward thinking coach who is not a YES MAN!

Unfortunately the FA's policy is always to employ a YES man, or someone that doesn't speak English.

People do talk utter nonsense when it comes to football, the man hasnt managed a game yet and he's being slaughtered, Hodgson doesn't strike me as being a 'yes man' whatever that is(thought that went out with the hippies)
As for Terry 'only looks average lately' hes just led his side to the FA Cup winners and taken them to the Champions League Final?

Why not give Hodgson a chance before berating him, who would you suggest as a non-yes man?

Rio is past his best. I think even Fergie knows that- hence Jones was bought. As for Richards - he's not been playing enough in the City team so he's picked Johnson. Both are good going forward but poor defending IMO.

Downing v Adam Johnson is interesting. Johnson is a far better attacker but Downing can and will cover his defenders and is a little more experienced in Europe.

Milner is a good pick. He will work his socks off in any position he's asked to play.

My worry is Rooney - he can't play the first three games and after Sunday it appears he can't hit a cows arse with a banjo anyway! I'd have dropped him for  Sturridge.

How can he be classed a Yes Man when he's taking Terry? The FA would have loved him to be left out of the tournament due to his impending court case.

He's proved in taking Terry that he makes his own decisions and will stand or fall by them.

Give the guy a chance for goodness sake. At least he doesn't open bank accounts in his dog's name!!

Being a Man U fan (go on have a go we can take it lol) I have to say Ferdinand is way past his best, Rooney also hasn't been on form lately, Joe Hart is simply the best GK in England, personally i will be watching a few of the games at least just to see how we get on.

Even Fergie says Rio can't play two games in a week now - so I guess he bought Jones on the basis he won't be using Rio that much in the future.

Hope I am proved wrong but to me this looks the weakest English squad I have seen. The only real so called world class player Rooney will not take part in the opening 2 matches.

I cannot understand how the bookies can make England 4th favourites.

Rooney isn't world class! If he was he'd have scored at least 4 on Sunday.

RVP is world class. Rooney couldn't lace his boots!

To be honest I think the mix of players is not that bad, I'm glad Rooney isn't there as he always has a bad attitude when representing England and rarely finds good form when playing for them. John Terry is in my mind the obvious captain of the England squad and I think Gerrard being given that responsibility is a minor mistake. I am old school in my views on international football in that I think the captain should be a centre back and we should also play a 4-4-2 formation, make the opposition play our game.

I wish Mr Hodgson and the team the best of luck for the competition and only hope that English football is the winner, no schoolboy antics or petulance. We want the world to see us as a professional disciplined football nation and one that adopts a true sporting attitude to the competition win or lose.

Play the game as the great Bobby Moore would have wanted it to be played!

p.s. Stoop, I am not sure about RVP being world class as he has only really performed for Arsenal this year, if he can do the same next year then I might agree.  ;)

He'll be doing it for City next season ;-)

Rooney is going - he just misses the first two games  :)

Sorry, I forgot about Rooney........as for RVP doing it for City, I think you are right. Personally I don't think that RVP will be the player next year he was this and we should cash in before he leaves on a free transfer.

Back to Rooney, I hope he leaves all the bad stuff behind and just plays football as I do rate him as a great player....not world class but he does have the ability to become it.

To be fair I guess if Harry had picked this squad, some would have being saying things slightly different, but because it is Roy he get's slaughtered straight away. I think it is about time the squad had new faces in it and to give youngsters a go as it appears with some of the named. Let's face it the senior experienced players didn't exactly shine in the last big tournement!I could name a few players who I would like to see in the squad also but who cares, I am not the England Manager and as correctly pointed out Roy will either stand or fall by his choice so as a England supporter I say good luck to him and the team.
