Hi all, not been around much on the threads lately (only the weight loss one) Hope your all well. I was wondering if anyone could advise me on using package holiday flights but then not using the hotel. Myself and the other half werent going to have a holiday this year as we are doing building work on the house, then we sat down and decided the other night that perhaps a cheeky 7/10 nighter in Turksville could be done, so I got in touch with our friend whose apart we rent, but then when I looked at the prices for flights I nearly fell off my chair! £650 for the 2 of us! (this is in september) so I was wondering if any of you tend to buy a package deal just to use the flights? Any advice would be great. Thanks all. x

Yes you can do it ,as long as the tour rep knows so she can inform hotel ,lots of people do it this has been asked before on here. ;) 8)

I have done it twice, told the rep on the transfer coach that accomodation not required.
No problem.
I even arranged for the transfer to collect me at the hotel I should have stayed at for the return journey.

Just interested to know... say I brought a package deal (flight + hotel) and it was £199 for example, im guessing the hotel still gets some of that money, so they do not loose out if you do not show up at their hotel (well except for bar/food you buy there) just makes me wonder how the hell Thomas Cook can charge over £300 PP for just a flight but then a package is £199!?

I think that the likes of Thomas cook block book the rooms so the owner gets paid weather occupied or not. What they get paid is a pittance though I believe as they are supposed to make their money on the bar/food etc.

Try Icelolly.com they had some cheap deals for April when I was looking for Marmaris. If I could have travelled 1 day earlier I could have saved about £100 each and just used the flight.
