Obviously there is a lot to get used to and learn (for us too!) but please as a priority check your profile - link is above in the menu bar - just to make sure your details came across from the old forum correctly. If you start getting all Lance's private messages by mistake that could be an experience that could scar you forever!!
As always, any questions just shout :)
-
There you go Keith, im chuffed im back, and you frighten me with Lance. ;) :)
-
Welcome back.it looks easier even for me to post now.
-
Profile checked, as requested. One point: it gives my location as Turkey , which is correct, but it gives 'local time' as UK time. Perhaps you mean it the time at your local ;)
-
That's a good point actually Tom - you would think it would show YOUR local time but I can't see how it could - perhaps there is a modification for that, we shall make enquiries :)
-
Most of mine has come across but not the profile pic, is this easy to add on...
-
Yes just click on you profile (in menu bar above) - you'll be surprised how easy.
-
arr got it now, cheers
-
Thank you Chairman for making me a junior member at 58 it's made my day.

Ok Tom got there - Profile -> Modify Profile -> Look and Layout -> Time Offset
-
I have tried many times to change my location, and it is still coming up as UK not Fethiye, any ideas?
-
Hi m'dear :)
Can you try again - in Profile - Forum profile
There is a field for location which I switched off earlier today while I was having a tinker - back on now :)

Have tried again and still not working for me. Sorry.

In transferring posts from the old forum to the new, rejuvenated, washes whiter forum, some interesting things have happened to the previous posts - especially in relation to inverted comms" s and apostrophe' s. I take this as an electronic attack on behalf of the Destroy Punctuation Militant Tendency.
-
Yes we have a few final issues to tidy up - the strange punctuation changes and also Turkish characters. It was more important to get the forum converted and up again but it's not done - we are doing plenty of things behind the scenes still.
Looking at the topic title, it also gives me the opportunity to ask members (who haven't already) to check their profile, check and update any fields like birthday, email address etc. Some email addresses that failed to make the move for their owners were from ISPs who disappeared years ago :)
Just spend 30 seconds making sure yours is all accurate: http://calis-beach.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile

Can I ask what the thinking is behind the thumbs up/down. Apart from maybe a bit of fun? Or when you reach a certain amount of negs you get booted perhap's? Be more fun if we can see who upped or downed us, hey Des Martin! ;)

Apart from a bit of fun not much. It gives everyone an idea of how members are regarded I suppose.

dont have to see who does it just ask, suppose some people are like a praying mantis, just lie and wait then strike. that should add a few more negatives i reckon.
-
-14 for upsetting the Uzumlu posse Des - I'm sure you can't sleep at night ;)
-
Des how on earth have you got -14.
To be honest not so keen on the thumbs down - if you knew what post it was that warranted it fair enough.
Thumbs up is OK as it can encourage less prolific posters to feel more confident about posting although it would feel more relevant and be more interesting if you knew what post it was that received what is effectively a like! :)
-
Not so keen on the thumbs down? Me too. I run the place (which is free of charge) to help people wherever possible and 10 people have so far decided I deserve a negative click!!!
-
I know!!! I noticed that too and thought it was a bit off - maybe you were being controversial somewhere ;)
-
In Fethiye, for 5 years 2003-2008 :D
-
Yep, that explains it :o ;) :D
-
Baffling isnt it Nichola, started off on CBF a few years ago as a helpful member, then a big contributor, then senior member, now im down to a negative member. Keiths right, cant sleep at night worrying about it, bet i make 100 negs by the end of june, think the bit of fun though has turned into something silly. ;) :)
-
And with that I have removed the + and - values and just the sum of the two is shown. Oh, and I gave Des a boost for his fragile confidence ;)
-
Ahhhhh that's nice - a little angel  has been at work and thumbs down has gone... ;D
And so has thumbs up :-\
How many times can I modify this post lol ;)
They are back - yes that's better, the sum of the two 8)
-
You,re all heart Keith, must owe you at least a crate of effes now. ;) :)

I have given you a thumbs up for this post. Would indeed be nice if you could see for what post you receive it.
-
And one for the boss of course 8)

It's not ideal but I think it serves it's purpose better as a nett value than how many +s and -s. Negativity is not really part of the CBF culture - not from member to member anyway - we are supposed to be here to help each other and share information, advice and experiences.
The current one is supposed to be a bit of fun and to give an idea of who is thought of as a helpful member - it works well as long as it is in positive territory but stinks when in negative. It rates members rather than posts and Steve and I are keen to find a "thanks" or "like" alternative that shows positive appreciation for posts (rather than members). Sadly, we can't find a suitable one yet but will keep looking.
In the meantime - please consider avoiding using the current one to gang up on people, use it to vote for someone who helped you with advice, info or made you laugh, by clicking thumbs up. If I could turn off the thumbs down and just have the thumbs up I would.

I may have something in a few days :)

If you have "ICQ Messenger" under your forum name (next to your posts) it means you haven't checked and saved your profile since we moved to the new forum. It's not a bad idea to remove it from your profile if you don't use it (or perhaps even know what it is :) )
Your profile is here: http://calis-beach.co.uk/forum/profile/
