Flying Birmingham to Dalaman in August. Never used Birmingham before, anyone have any experiences of it?
-
It's pretty easy there. Are you arriving by car or train ?
-
Parking at a local hotel and getting a taxi early doors!

Absolute piece of cake then.

We had to fly from Birmingham for the first time in April this year because they were the only airport other than Gatwick which would bring our animals over. We found it all very easy. No problems at all and the flight left on time and arrived early at Dalaman. Would definately go via Birmingham again if we had to.

I used Birmingham for the first time 2 weeks ago and I must say I was quite impressed. I arrived by train from Cardiff and had a connection from Birmingham New Street station direct to the airport. Everything very straight forward and plenty of amenities. I was surprised how busy it was there, but impressed with how the place accommodated everyone. I would certainly use Birmingham again. :)

& there's an M&S simply food just before security to stock up on those extra goodies :P

Wow! Birmingham being admired......
The accent is bit dodgy thought.....

Nice airport! Done both long and short haul from there with no problems.

Fly regular from Birmingham and as previously said very easy airport to get around. However, the last time I flew out which was 5 weeks ago, the queue to check in was three fold. I just about got onto the plane with no spare time. Hoping this was a one off though.
If anyone arranges an airport pickup carparking can be expensive too.

If you can check in online try and do so - it helps avoid the massive queues and you can just go to the short (or non existent) queue to drop your bags and pick up your boarding card.
I flew back here a couple of weeks ago from Brum. Make sure you allow plenty of time to get through Security though - it took 30 minutes to wind my way through the queue. Also, keep your eye on the departure boards - my Monarch flight went from being delayed for 15 minutes and to wait in lounge to "Final Call Gate 55" caught lots of people out especially as we ended up taking off early!

Yes,I found myself looking at the departure board more often as there seemed to be no announcements, I then over heard a member of staff explaining to a fellow passenger that it was a "silent airport", which would explain the lack of announcements, I did hear a few, but probably used as a desperate measure, but otherwise I must admit it did enhance the overall ambiance, as long as you keep checking the board ! :)

Anyone needing to pick up anyone , dont pay use long stay carpark 1 you get 20 mins free. Drive down towards the terminal and there's a small passage way to the terminals.
