somebody advised us to go straight to the visa desk before going thought passport control, to save time, not knowing anything about the whereabouts of rather when we fight into dalaman , wondered if this is recommended many thanks
-
Not sure what this has to do with restaurants lol!
On arrival at Dalaman, everyone is shepherded to the desks that have visa over them, there you pay £10 & get a postage type stamp in your passport. Afterwards, you go to passport control & they will rubber stamp your entry visa with the date of entry into the country - simples!
-
Just a little reassurance please,i came over to Calis 26th May for 1 week and i will be going again for 1 week 22nd August so i'm thinking i do not have to pay my £10 visa again (ie new visa rules 90 days etc).Thanks. ??? :)
-
Your 180 day visa won't run out until November Maria so just by pass the visa desk ;D
-
and when you get to the Pasaport Polis desk make sure your passport is open at the page with the visa on it.
-
I've never done that, no wonder they look so miserable :D
-
I always hand over my passport open at the correct page and they always close it and look through all the pages!
-
Thanks £10 extra to spend, i got a smile last time Keith. ;D
-
thanks again , for all the advice

Hey Maria...me too! After all these years of sullen grunts, one actually cracked a grin!
-
and when you get to the Pasaport Polis desk make sure your passport is open at the page with the visa on it.
And then they immediately turn to the back pages for your details and to scan it then search for the current visa page again.

Sorry to appear thick here but does this mean that the 90 day visa is now valid for 180 days(6 months)? If so it must be costing them money and I cant see anyone introducing a scheme that costs them money.
I have read the various websites and it appears to me that the 90 days period still exists but the 180 days refers to the length of time you are allowed to spend the 90 days in.( So for example in any set 180 day period you cannot spend more than 90 days on Turkish soil)I assume this has been put in to make people purchase a residents visa rather than a tourist visa hence making them money. I contacted the Turkish embassy in London today and they confirmed that the 90 day length of the visa has not changed only the 180 day bit.
Comments would be appreciated.

Not sure what you want us to comment on, as you seem to understand the 90/180 rules just fine..
For those not sure have a look at this easy to use calculator....

So....... when the 180days are up and you want to stay in Turkey, where do you
renew your visa?????? is it the Maise run again??
-
So glad for this website as i was certainly not aware that we now don,t have to get another visa as we usually do when we return September as we purchased one in May this year..
saves us £20 :) thats a meal out ;)

You could, but you would have to stay overnight, as you would not be able to come back on the same day

http://www.akbukturkey.com/tourist_visas.html this seems to be a good calculater
-
Thanks for that "Trainer" its an excellent tool for calculating the total length of stay and how many days left.
I would advise everyone to save and use this to avoid problems on entry to Turkey
-
My understanding was that it was changed from 90 day to 90 in 180 days to address the "island hopping" permanent stayers avoiding residency Paul. It is not possible to be in Turkey permanently under this new system. It wasn't about money (making it or saving it) - it was to ensure that all non-nationals permanently in Turkey have residency, which is fair enough. Bloody confusing now though for the regular holidaymaker visiting Turkey several times a year.
-
I agree Keith,
Karen and I had visions of turning up at passport control and then being led back to the plane(LOL) under armed guard.
I wonder if anyone has been refused entry under this new rule?
-
When we arrived in May, I chose the passport control queue with just one couple ahead - then was dismayed as I approached to hear "...no...under YOUR rules...not mine...it is 90, ok 90...in ANY 180..." - pointing at passports and arrival of other airport men. Bad decision by me, but based on my experience alone I would say that 100% of people I have been behind have had problems with the new system ;)
-
Hopefully by the time we arrive September it will all be understood :)
-
Oh well now I am confussed ???and I thought I were sorted :-\
Visited in May for 9 days ...back in September so do I go straight to passport control or pay for another visa : :)
-
go straight to passport control. you cannot get a new visa until 181 days after the date of the current one. your september trip cant go beyond the 180 days.
-
Thanks Tonysue ;D
-
what would happen if you bought a new visa and then went to passport control having already bought a visa earlier in the year and was still withn 180 day period?
-
The thing that rankles me is if you get your visa, stay for 50 days then leave for 91 days why cant you pay for a new visa when you re-enter within the 180 day period?? If the Turkish authorities are trying to clamp down on the foreigners staying on tourist visas fair enough, but if you are out of the counrty for 91 days then obviously you cant be in for more than 90. simples.

Hmmm,
so this sounds like people like us who go out 2 or 3 times a year over a 6 month period have to be very careful.
We would never be anywhere near the 90 days in country limit, but our first and last visits are usualy around 6 months apart - April and October. It sounds like we need to make sure our last trip us either fully within the 180 days (same visa) or fully beyond (new visa) - we will be in trouble if our dates "straddle" the 180 day limit.

No it was to bring Turkey into line with signatories to the Schengen Agreement which is most of Europe

I to always have my passport open on the right page and most times he or she closes it and opens it page after page after page.

Clearly not the right page :) This is done all round the world.
-
They need to check the photo page first. I used to tell them what page my valid visa was on to save them having to rifle through all the pages
-
we have just renewed our passports as due to expire in Jan 2013, but our old passports have the visa in we brought in May which is actually still valid for our September trip ... do you think if we take our old passports with the visa,s in to show them we will not have to buy one, or as the passport now has the corners cut as invalid they wont accept it....
-
You should have bought the reduced price short term visa for a fiver sunlover ;)
Not sure how you go on with that one. You could try it but then if it fails you will end up at the back of the queue :(
-
Take both passports with you to show them, i had to do this when my dog chewed my passport and i had to get another one.
