Hi everyone,
Can anyone recommend an alternative to the usual nescafe? We usually bring a large jar of our favourite douwe egberts, which usually lasts us the 2 weeks but as we're coming for longer don't want unnecessary weight in the case. We're planning a big shop at Migros if anyone can suggest a nice 1 they sell?? Many thanks.

I actually find the coffee quite expensive in Migros.
You can buy the refill packs in the UK, a lot less weight than the jars.

I settled on the green Jacobs for instant, not bad at all. The Jacobs ground coffee was good too.
-
We have the Jacobs filter coffee which is quite good, we bring refill packs of Kenco really rich instant.

Silly me, didn't think of refill packs, must have other things on my mind....washing my shorts, sorting passports, packing etc etc ;D. Thanks.

In most of the supermarkets you can get little sachets of cappuccino, latte, etc., made by a variety of manufacturers including Jacobs, and the supermarkets own, they are about 60k each and you just put them in the cup and add hot water. They often come in different flavours, such as chocolate, almond, etc, We always buy them and I find them a good alternative for a few weeks.

Jacobs Cronat Gold for us - we really like it - not as bitter as Nescafe.

Thanks everyone. X

Or try Guvens in Calis or Address bar on the Fethiye harbour, both do a lovely cup of coffee.
-
Bım do sachets of sugar free cappucino for 35tl and they taste just as good as the more expensive sachets sold in the bigger supermarkets.
-
Every trip home and every time anyone comes to stay they have to bring Kenco really rich refill bags.
I currently have 12 in my cupboard and get panicky when I get down to 5!

Kipa sell quite a range of own brand coffee, such as Alta Rica, Java and Brazillian.
-
Thank you all for the info, have just picked up 2 refill bags of Douwe Egberts in Asda, which I didn't realise they sold so problem solved, will bear in mind your recommendations should we run out! Thanks again. Lynn. X

Does anyone know if they sell the Nespresso coffee pods in Turkey or will I have to bring them with me. I have a Nespresso coffee machine there and usually bring the pods with me but if I can avoid the extra weight then that would be a bonus.
-
I'm going to miss my nespresso machine :(

No problem with putting coffee beans in your hand luggage, with almost unlimited cabin weight flying with Easy Jet we do it all the time

Have no idea where you are in Uk but a lot of discount stores like B&M, Quality Save often have refills at silly prices if you are in the North? I am sure there must be equivalents elsewhere. Anyway hope you find some as the weight issue really is getting tough these days when they charge you by the gram at the Airline! Believe Ryan Air plan to ask people to travel in beachwear as it is lighter and they can save on the heating costs! Meldrew

George brilliant if you fly with EasyJet I agree, you should have seen their faces when I turned up with a fishing jacket with every pocket bulging and a cabin bag to slay a Dragon! Seriously, if they are going to insist on being so stingy with Hold luggage ------
I am actually told that it makes little difference to fuel consumption, but abif difference to expensive Air freight they can carry, dont knoiw if its true! :)
Menawhile have asked a frined to look around for coffe and price up for me!
