Title: Trip to Kalkan
Post by: Rayza on July 25, 2012, 19:02:00 PM
When we're out in August we are thinking of having a day trip to Kalkan. We want to go by public transport, prefer it that way, rather than a tour company. So just how easy is is it to get to Kalkan from Fethiye and is there a direct bus from the Otogar? Many thanks Rayza  ;D

Yes there are direct buses, Bati Antalya, tel 0252 612 9661 is the company that run the service & leaving on the half hour from 07:30. You'd need to enquire for return times, but pretty much the same frequency

Yes well worth it, there are regular buses from the Otogar, about 2 hour journey for about 14 Tl, if I remember correctly, enjoy !   :); never fear travelling on the Turkish coaches, especially the larger one's, we in the Uk could learn a lot from them !.   ;)  :)

Very picturesque but you do need to be fit!!Coaches stop at the top of the hill, so unless you are reasonably mobile you will need taxi to take
you down to the harbour front. We generally combine our over-night stops with Kas and take in either Meis or Kekova.

We always walk from the top of the town, only thing to remember is don't wear toe-peg shoes as the roads down to the harbour are steep and slippy and your feet will just come out of toe-pegs.  Lovely place worth a visit.

Funny we are looking to do this same trip in August. We have just booked a couple of nights B&B in Kalkan, so this was really useful information!  :)

We found it ideal and they were so trusting.
They have small bar on the roof terrace .We were told before we went out in the eveing that if we came back late and wanted a drink to help ourself  and pay up in the morning.
