Title: FTC NO HOLD Baggage - What does that mean?
Post by: nichola on July 25, 2012, 23:25:51 PM
I am just or was just about to confirm my booking for return flights to the UK for Christmas and the New Year after wading my way through the palava that is having to pay both ways 20 Euros for 20 kilos out bound and 35 Euros for 25 kilos coming back for checked baggage, pay for MY SEAT - what is that about???? and decided to check the Baggage allowance only discover there is NO hold baggage when booking flight only  :o

So what does that mean; what about my camera and my personal stuff what am I supposed to do with those?

Very unhappy person  :(

You don't hold your hold baggage Nichola, it's your hand baggage that you hold. Your hold baggage goes in the hold :D

I think you have had too much heat and it is getting to you, look at it again when you are cooler and it will become crystal clear.

Basically it means your hold luggage is not free, you have to pay as it is not a package holiday,  also book your seat (choose where you  want to sit or be allocated on arrival.

Get under the air con girl!!

Oh my mistake sorry - the blurb reads for flight only, you have to pay for checked (hold) baggage. No mention of hand baggage at all... I did get confused as I had of course just signed up to pay for checked baggage: Still think paying for my seat is a bit of an ask!

Does anyone know what the limit is for hand  baggage please - is it still 5 kilos?

You are right Loz, its been 3 years since I have been to the UK and I am hot and bothered if not before, I am now.

Booking a flight to the UK is not what it was that is for sure - not sure why I decided to check out the Xmas flights but then they looked such a bargain pre baggage allowance and SEAT - these charges  have almost doubled the price...

Still less than £200 quid return though even with all the extras that used to be included...

yes Nichola 5k and only 1 bag allowed, so handbag/laptop bag must go in together

You dont have to pay for your seat Nichola. Your seat is included in the price of the flight, the extra charge is for you to select where you sit. If you dont pay it they allocate the seat to you on arrival.

I never bother to "book a seat" Nichola it is just a way to get more money out of you, dont mind where I sit as long as I get where I want to go  :)

Hi Nichola

The hand luggage allowance depends on the airline with Monarch it is 10kg easyjet I do not think has a weight limit but only a size limit. Hope this helps  :)

Monarch flights that are coded ZB are 10 kilos hand luggage as they are classed as scheduled flights, those monarch flights that start MON are 5 kilos. Think Tom Cook 5 kilos, most charter flights are.
