Title: passport control. (istanbul or dalaman)?
Post by: FrankStanley on August 06, 2012, 19:57:24 PM
hello, can anyone answer this question please?
flying to dalaman via istanbul with pegasus and return the same way. Do we go through passport control in istanbul or dalaman?
the time between international arrival and domestic departure is 1/1.5 hrs. with a similar interval on the return journey.
flying from and returning to Stanstead

thanks in anticipation   :)

You'll do passport control in Istanbul, but when you get to Dalaman you'll be bussed from domestic to international arrivals & collect your luggage there. It does mean that you can make hay in duty free too if you wish

On the return there is no duty free at Dalaman domestic turminal. you can get duty free at istanbul

Pegasus uses Sabiha gokcen which is like a ghost airport compared to Ataturk so you will get through passport control there much quicker.

Don't worry too much about the change from International terminal to domestic (or vice versa on the return) in Istanbul. I've done that route several times & there was always a member of Pegasus groundstaff to guide us through. Just be aware that if the timings are particularly tight, you're kind of expected to run with them! After the first time, I got hand luggage with wheels, which made life a lot easier.

Also, if you buy duty free in Stansted (or on the plane on your outward journey) make sure it is sealed in the bag, & explain that Istanbul is not your final destination, otherwise it may be confiscated at domestic security.

thanks so much Liz, was concerned about how we got from int. arrivals to domestic departures in the time allowed. We have flown out from this airport but can,t remember how far away the domestic terminal is.

Both int & domestic are in the same building, but it's still a heck of a hike from one to t'other! Fortunately, you pick up boarding cards for both legs of the journey either at Stansted or Dalaman on the return & you'll not see your luggage in Istanbul either
