Title: Inroduction
Post by: Twin Bee on April 30, 2005, 21:15:41 PM
I have joined this forum so I can explore the dream of buying a home in Turkey. I am 3 years off retirement and hope it might come sooner. Doing this feels a bit scary as I can think of lots of good reasons for not going ahead but on the other hand there are lots of reasons for making it happen. So I hope the forum will help keep me motivated and help me gain a better understanding of what to expect wartsd and all! So as the advert yes it is good to chat. Stuart

Oh my God! My husbands name is Stuart Barnes, he's 2 years off early retirement and we bought a house in Calis a year ago and are just about to take our first holiday in it. Go for it Stuart! My Stuart is a financial advisor and we have been cautious all our lives - till we fell in love with Turkey! Then we decided to go for it and blow caution to the wind! With the fantastic help from Heidi and Keith we bought our place in the sun and maybe hopefully our future home. All I know is that we live for our visits to Turkey and the bits in between are just life thats to be got through.:(

Hi Stuart, welcome to the forum. I wish you well and can only agree with the other members by suggesting that you turn your dream into reality. We bought a house last year in Calis and have had no regrets.

:DNo Stuart, just an ordinary brother! Hope you follow your dream and find your home in Turkey, its made such a difference to our lives. You will find out most of what you need to know from this forum - warts and all! We found the actual buying process unbelievably easy, thats because our estate agents did all the hard work! Good Luck! 8)

Hi Stuart welcome to the forum, there are many people here who have also been in the same position as yourself. Initaly the thought is terryfing, by the time you end up with your new home you wonder what all the worry was about. We sold up lock, stock and barrel and can honestly say that the only thing we regret is not doing it sooner.

Hi Stewart.
We bought a place in Calis March 2004. It is extremely scary buying your first property abroad. Things are done quite differently from UK. You can decide to buy, and do all the neccessary in one frantic day, and the property is legally yours. Find an agent that you can trust. There are plenty of reccomendations on this forum. We hope to move to Calis permanently in the next two years.
Best of luck,
Ty

Stuart
Go for it NOW!
I have yet to see one person on here who once they have bought decided it was the wrong move for them.
You'll want to retire earlier than 3 years & with interest rates at 15% after tax you might decide to retire early & have the funds to do it.
Get yourself out to Calis & get your piece of Paradise.
You won't regret it.
Good luck, but stop dreaming & just do it.

welcome Stuart - good luck with your house hunting when the time comes. We can only recommend Heidi, Keith and their lovely staff who looked after us very well and found us a lovely apartment, with no bulls... involved. good luck Mary
