Title: Tonight's Glasgow to DLM flight - Diverted to Gatwick?
Post by: Scunner on August 29, 2012, 20:28:59 PM
May be nothing but just in case anyone is picking up friends/family on TCX3876  from Glasgow to Dalaman, I have heard it has been diverted early on and landed at Gatwick. No idea why or what happened. People taking the DLM - Glasgow returning leg of this flight should check the airport arrivals page for the incoming flight as it is already showing as delayed (arrival time should be 23:35 TR time) and it appears the plane may still be at London Gatwick

Apparantly the pilot reported a "Squawk 7700" which is a term used for an emergency. Fingers crossed all's well.
I'm an anoraK when it comes to planes. I love them and am on a few of the pilots forums.

LOL. No pushing past me, mind!!! Latest update is ther was a problem with the air pressure.
Seems that the "squawk 7700" call sign is the main one and some pilots are reluctant to use it as they often get their knuckles rapped!!!

Seems there is no evidence of this flight turning round for a flight back to Glasgow. Just a Gatwick flight for TC tonight from DLM which is delayed so that might be it. If it is, and you or friends are on it, make sandwiches.

We were on this flight and the pilot announced that there was a problem with the navigation system and couldn't continue to Turkey but diverting to Gatwick. He said there was no need for alarm and it would be a normal landing.  This was fine until we landed and saw the fire engines circling us.  The pilot again said no need to be alarmed just normal procedure as they landed with an almost full tank of fuel and the tank and tyres had to checked.  That's when we realised it could have been a different story it the landing hadn't been smooth. We got the all clear and proceeded to park up.  After an hour they decided the plane could not continue the journey to Dalaman and we disembarked.  We took off on another plane and we eventually landed in Dalaman 5 hours late and glad to be here.  The original return flight from Dalaman was taking passengers to Gatwick before flying onto Glasgow with an empty plane Thanks to Fethiye Airports who were there waiting for us even though we were 5 hours late.
