It had been noticeable to us just how few of the little blighters have been around so far this year, but seems to be quite a few over the past few days ?
-
Yep same down here very humid at the mo too.
-
Yes! Buggers got me last few days!
-
Always more after rain. Lots of the belediye sprayers around in my area after saturday. And also more mossies when it starts to cool down. Maybe they dont want a suntan..... :D
-
I have to say, that in 12 years of coming to Hisaronu.. this year, in Hisaronu ..there has been very noticably a massive absence of mosquito`s all season !!! long may it last !! :D
-
well perhaps they are like the rest of us, buggar all to go to hisaronu for. ;)
-
Just knew someone on here would have a poke at my comment, thinking he is soooo funny.. So in answer to the above..perhaps its the fact that Calis was built on a swamp that its got mosquito problems ?
-
Here we go again, for Gods Sake !
-
Exactly Rimms !! I agree with you .. why is it one only has to mention `Hisaronu` and the derisive comments about Hisaronu start appearing from some members on here ?? no need for it ???

This seems to be the worst time of year for mozzies. Often larger than normal and with a very nasty bite.
Fethiye council have sprayed twice in the past week so hopefully the problem over the water here won't be too bad.
Hisarönü is much cooler than Çaliş and Fethiye which are hotter and often more humid and they are also by water so far more likely to have more mozzies.
-
They are everywhere!
A tip I can give after a lot of research and long discussions, remove any sources of stagnant standing water from around your house. Mozzies love standing water as they use it as a breeding ground (the thought is scary!)Even a small planter pot that has been left outside and filled up with rain water is a potential breeding ground for mozzies, make sure you get rid of it asap! Also the classic citronella candles work a treat too, it's so hot in the house though when I surround myself with them!! 8)

I think the RAID battery operated dispenses work quite well, the whole kit including the dispenser, battery and a tin of repellent that dispenses about 6,000 doses is 20tl from Mellisa in Gunlukbasi

Well said Nichola! A true and calming diplomat.

the blowers were up our way tonight ,not many mozzies up here, but got bit when i went into calis
little bu**ers :(
-
when we are "dining in" we spray the balcony area with Listerene and put citronella candles on the table, we also had a good mozzie spray that we bought in Turkey I forget what it was called but it was in a blue bottle, we used to spray ourselves with that before going out or sitting out of an evening. I got just two bites in two weeks on our last trip. The listerene thing I got from on here a few years back and i think it does work, apparantly mozzies hate it but it has to be Listerene and not another version of mouthwash :)
-
For Gods sake don't give the listerene, their teeth are sharp enough !
-
:) :D have they got teeth then?? :-\
-
No teeth , but their breath smells lovely ! :)

Hi
I have always used boots liquid plug in repellent. Usually so good you can leave your windows open. However it failed to work in olu deniz this year!
I was told by legless that avons skin so sift moisturising spray works . I will be trying this out soon. Has to be the original with the green writing. Contains citronella.
Apparently the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan use it with great results .
Hoping it works.

The writing on the one I got is gluey/green but unfortunately for me, it didn't work. I know Jacqui recommended as have several others. I suspect I bought the wrong one! :'(
-
Have just looked on the Avon website. The original has a new formula so am wondering if it no longer does the trick.
-
Bluwise, it needs to be the "original" one, not the soft and fresh.
:)
-
That's where I went wrong - and being "gluey/green" didn't help - made the little sods stick on even more ! ;D
-
My Avon lady assures me this is the one . It could depend in each persons skin. Like perfume smells differently on each person. Will try it and report back. I get nozzles in uk to. Uk home on reclaimed marsh also. I must be drawn to it . Haven't tried it here as my plug in does the job
-
