Title: Water Cooler!
Post by: darmontie on September 18, 2012, 19:29:54 PM
As the subject line really. We're wanting to purchase a water cooler to save on lugging bottles of water back from the supermarket and were wondering if anyone could advise on where best to buy from and the the cost of purchase an running the unit (bottles of water)?

Thanks,

db

First stop for a water cooler would probably be Eren Spot

You can get 19ltr bottles of water delivered by the gas delivery companies. At the mom it is 5tl + 10tl deposit for the first bottle. If you don't want to bother with a water cooling unit, they can also supply a hand pump for around 10tl.

Kipa water cooler 159tl, on offer. The cold is perfect drinking temperature and it will also do hot. The water bottles are 8tl via our man at Violet. I think they are also 19 litre but have to be of thicker plastic so that they do not implode under vacuum. The cheapest we found at Eren Spot were about 220tl.

Little shop in Ciftlik had one at 100ytl. Not sure about plastic thickness Ken. Ones we get for 5 are very similar to ones we have at work and we just plonk them on and use. More likely pressure release valve failing will cause it to collapse.

If you want a used one there's a place half a mile past Tansas towards Fethiye on the same side of the road sell them in there. They also do fans, coal burners and barbecues too

HI

A neighbour of mine bought a cheapish one and the water tasted awful, it tasted of plastic.  She couldn't even give it away.  So becareful and make sure you check the quality out first before you buy.

We also use a 5Tl hand pump and there's nothing wrong with it, cheap and nasty but it works fine !, if we want cold water we always keep 2 Ltrs in the fridge + ice;  19 Ltrs of water delivered from a local shop (cow shop Tasyaka) 5Tl, (10 Tl for initial bottle) delivered, once they get used to where you live no problems.   :)

That's what we do valley boy but might consider the water cooler option next year. Not 100% certain it's a good idea with the cost of electric though   ;)

We use a hand pump and keep a few big bottles in the fridge.
Its a bit of a pain but I think that a proper dispencer for the amount of time we are over is not worth the money.

Agree with Bewva and Stoop on both counts, electric costs appear to have escalated somewhat this year and if you only spend a partial amount of time per year in your place, it could be a bit of an unnecessary expense for the sake of a little hand pumping and fridge water management !   ;)  :)

Would it be possible to get a water softener as well or instead to make the tap water drinkable ?
