Walking around Fethiye yesterday I noticed work had been started on restoring the ancient theatre by the harbour...

& for anyone driving to the Karagozler end, the road past the amphitheatre is closed, the diversion is along the quayside in front of Fethi Bey's statue

Looking at the plans they have up, it looks as if the "diversion" will eventually become the new road..

It's about time, they have been talking about it for as long as I can remember. If the Fethiye Amphitheatre was in Britain it would be one of our greatest treasures. In Turkey, it's a pile of old rocks.

It's also a great shame that some of those "old rocks" were used to rebuild the harbour in the 50's. Only in Turkey....
