Title: Another Sad Loss
Post by: Scunner on September 23, 2012, 00:12:41 AM
As new topics go, this is one I really would have preferred not to have to do.

Among the very early settlers of the decade in Calis along with ourselves was the wonderful Max & Sheila, who moved over to Calis in (I think) 2004. They moved away within a year and at that time were the only people I had known to leave, but they decided to move on.

Sadly I have been informed that Max passed away just last week.

I wrote on CBF after our visit earlier this year how amazing it was that we were in Calis in May and were remembering the 'crowd' of 8 years ago and specifically Max and Sheila who we hadn't seen for 8 years - and never expected to see ever again in truth  - only to see them stroll past us on the prom literally just a few hours later. They hadn't been to Calis once since those exciting days of 2004 and hadn't changed a bit. Hence it is just that little bit more of a shock to hear that Max has gone.

One of the most uncomplicated, genuine ex-pats you could ever wish to meet - rest in peace Max. For those who want to see the man himself in 'action':

Max Higgins - One of the first and most definitely one of the best.

I remember watching this video when you first posted it and made me smile.  Never met Max  but looks like someone who knew how to enjoy himself.

I'm sure he'll be greatly missed by all his family and friends.  My sincere condolences to them.

I'm really sorry to hear this news Keith. I remember your post earlier this year and had the pleasure of meeting and chatting to Max myself in May too. A lovely gentleman. My condolences to his family and friends at their sad loss.

We were really shocked and saddened to hear this news.  As you know we were with you when you had the chance meet up with them in May and we had a really nice afternoon in their company.  Our thoughts are with Sheila and the family at this sad time.
