Title: A Drop of Rain
Post by: Colwyn on September 24, 2012, 16:58:58 PM
It has been a little damp down here in the West Country. They say the rain band is not coming North towards you folk who live the nether regions. It's a wonder there is any left after what it has dropped on us.

I hope so. The head groundsman has promised to deliver a trailer-load of the smaller ones for my woodburner.

Well I've been asked to go as a guest to Leeds V Everton tonight - Banqueting Suite no less!

What's the odds on a pitch inspection at lunchtime and it being called off?

1/10 is my guess :(

Apparently you Northerners are sending the rain back down to us. Couldn't you have emptied the damn clouds; we have had enough.

We got our share in the nether regions.  Which is where that damn wind was hitting today.
Leaves and branches everywhere....a right old mess.

Was in a marquee on the lawn at Harewood House yesterday with Frank Bruno! No heating and the wind was  howling, never been so cold or damp! Dont think us northeners have got away with anything! My newly built out-house is wet through too!

Amazing. On the same pitch I photographed 2 days ago the 11 year-olds were out practicing this afternoon.

It has been raining for a day and the floodwater is already deeper than it was in September. Further heavy rain is forecast for tomorrow. Fortunately we are 25 ft above the flood plain (I made sure I checked this before we bought the house). This might not sound very much, but it is a hell of lot higher than many places round here. In the summer we volunteered to be registered as a flood refuge with a local neighbourhood group. This means we will open our house to a flooded-out family if the need arises. Does anyone know of similar initiatives elsewhere? Any comments on them?

Well I hate to be smug, but it's been a glorious sunny day here in Scotia Land. I even managed to get a substantial washing hung out and dried, something I didn't get done during our crap summer!
  :)

This'll make you even smuger - it's been persistently raining here for the last 24 hours!

Hee hee, but I think I've spoken too soon. Watching the Scottish news and there's a big feature on the forthcoming severe weather coming in from tomorrow. It's looks a cracker. 12 flood warnings including 1 for my area.
 :-[ :-[ :-[

Oh no Liz. You've had some great prolonged weather though   :)
