Heard that there was to be an official limit to the number of passengers they were allowed to Carry? Is it going to be like the limit in the Philippines for Jeepneys?
I asked how many people could fit in a Jeepney and was told it was --- one more! 8)

We walked from Calis to Fethiye today and commented that not one single dolmus sounded their horns at us to pick us up. The buses were busy as it was market day but they've always squeezed more in before. Worth noting too that there are several swanky new dolmus in Calis, similar to the Olu Deniz ones. About time too

I have a suspicion that there has always been an official limit on the numbers of passengers allowed on the dolmuses. Totally ignored of course :)
-
The saying is they poke them on with a stick, to get more fares, but havent seen any limit yet
-
Been on an Oludeniz one from fet with 32 on board! Rack 'em, stack 'em n pack 'em!!

There has always been limits on the Dolmuş it's just that they are rarely adhered to unless the Jandarma are operating checks. Then all efforts to confound and confuse come into play with urgent exchanges taking place over mobiles and people encouraged to duck from view, or a second Dolmuş appearing from nowhere and passengers are changed over until past the check and then reloaded back onto the original Dolmuş and the second Dolmuş disappears to cover for the next one.
All very well and good until there is an accident of course.
I spent my first five years living here using public transport and have seen every trick in the book to maximise fares.
My pet hate was that if they didn't have the correct change it was somehow my loss not theirs, like they aren't already probably the most expensive in the whole of Turkey.

AAhh so it is the same as in Manila -- one more!

we were on one in the Bodrum area few years ago when we were made to crouch down on the floor to avoid the beady eye of he police !

This morning a trafik jandarma told me that overcrowded minibuses are high on their agenda.
-
It's a real pity that the cars doing 80 mph down Baris Manco aren't higher on their agenda.

This one was from Ovacik ;)
Are there no cAmeras on Baris Manco?
