Hi Deniz,

Hos Geldeniz - we live in Beckenham as well!
Small world.
We frequent the Turkish resturant Ergens and the Lokal in Sydenham (haven't been for a while as I think it changed ownership).

Great turkish super market in Catford TFC - bread, meat, olives and fantastic blacava.

Do you go back to Turkey much?

Lorraine & Larry

Thank you for your warm welcomes...

Yes its a small world, how suprising!!!

I can recommend you to try MEZE MANGAL IN new cross about 2 min from lewisham. You wont believe how tasty food they serve. They also have selection of seafood, kebabs, raki and efes  :)))
Why dont you try PFC instead TFC  :)
It is Penge food center, well managed and I believe much better than TFC
Please let me know PM if I can do anything for you?
I am really nice to met you....

I will be very honest about why we came to UK;

you all know that turkish men have to army for about 12 months...They also have to serve army as soon as they dont have any relationship with university. Before he gain any experience and start up a career, going army would be very bad for career improvment. When my husband had an offer from a company ( software developer&engineer ) we have tought that It would be a good idea to accept. Because if you stay abroad for more than 3 years you can pay army about 3000 GBP to serve for only 1 month. Ofcourse it is not the only reason, nowadays in Turkey there are 1000's of graduates who are look for a job to start their career and if you are  new to IT and if its your first job you dont expect to earn much :((
We tought it would be a good improvment to our career to spent some time in UK and have experience in. If you have experience abroad, you are more  compatitive...
I am Hospitality& tourism profesional graduated from a northern cyprus university... I tought it would be also good for me to see other aspect of this industry in UK.
As a result, it is mostly to gain experience in our career development.
Are the sacrifices worrth it?
I did not see it yet  :))
We will see soon  :))
I am not working since last december :(( Because I cannot find what I am looking for :((
As I said before, I am here to help any questions you find have about Turkey and Its people.. I would be more than happy if I could answer any of those....

Hi Deniz,
Thank you for that information,I really wish you both well in England
and hope your stay is enjoyable :)
I hope you both find work soon it will help you settle down quicker.
maybe if you don't find anything you can come to Bournemouth, there is plenty of leisure and tourism openings here.
In my work a lot of my customers are Turkish and have settled well, but they do work in the restaraunt and Take away business.
Your English is very good, better than my Turkish but I've only been learning for six months, but when you write the word 'tought'I think  you mean 'thought'.
sorry about the teaching lesson but if nobody tells you, you do not learn, and if you learn, I have 'taught' you something :)
good luck, hope to meet you one day.

Hey Tinkerman,

I really appreciate your help about spelling.
I dont have any problem with that!!!!

When it cames to writing, I am not good at spelling english words as we write as we speak in Turkish. Its a bit complicated for me...

I am not working its because I am in restaurant business and try to give up this career.
I used to asst. manageress in Pizza hut, spervisor in Hilton and PR specialist in Conrad hotel recently. But they all require late hours :((

My husbund is working for a IT company as computer engineer. He does not work weekends bank holidays and christmas week. What a good life  :)))
So I gave up working until I find a job where I can have at least weekend day off
Veryy sad, isnt it?
I also dont want to start from beginning or entry level which I believe it will be waste of time for me after all these years turning back and losing my ambition ( I hope I spelled correctly !! )

Sooo anyway guys, I know life is never easy and it will never be... I am sure I will find what I am looking for.
Thank you so much for your warm hospitality, I feel like I am already part of this valueable forum.

Its a great location!!!

I advice you to arrange a shopping day in a turkish local bazaar. I assume you mother in law is Turkish? She should know it its very popular. I always buy my tshirts, curtains, bags etc. when I am there

Tell her to take you ''meltem pazari'' on Meltem Street on thursday where you can find great bargains.

My family lives just opposite new Migros shopping centre, I hope I will be there very soon  :)

Hmmmm, EFES......
