My friends were charged this last week on their first day in Turkey.
They queried it but we're told it was correct.
I was passing the other day and had a word with one of the guys outside. He jut shrugged and walked away.
Needless to say they didnt go back there!

They don't know we talk
Yelken restaurant, Hotel Kemal
Thanks!
-
Where's Hotel Kemal pls so I know never to go! That would be an expensive night for me and OH once finished on the G&T's :-\
-
From the culture centre walking along the harbour towards Migros it's the first restaurant.
Next to the juice bar with the little chairs
-
I know the one you mean....thanks. Shame as we have had drinks there in the past and it's a nice spot.

Had many a decent lunch and drinks there and always found the prices good and the staff efficent. However there is all new staff there this year, a real shame if they have started scamming people.......
-
We were a bit surprised at the price hike whilst we were over in September. We went for a drink at the Hello bar in Fethiye - a lovely strong G & T which was 8 lira, went again a few days later and we were charged 12 lira - if my working out is correct it went from £2.80 to £4.20. Shame, as we liked going there but their drinks seemed to have gone up a lot more than other places.

A large Efes in the Yakamoz 11ytl .....................
-
Really, now they are taking the proverbial.

I had a very sober(!) holiday this year - the record was 15 Turkish lira for a brandy and coke. This was at the bar at the end of the front - the name escapes me - where they have sunbeds. The price board was outside and it said 8 lira - when questioned, they stated they had given us the best brandy! Did we ask for it??? No! However, the price of the imported drinks was wiped off the board! Needless to say, we won't be drinking there again!
But overall, everywhere seemed SO expensive for a drink! I can see me smuggling a bottle in my handbag!

This is the cycle - pull as fast one, people pay but never return, next we hear "where are all the tourists?".
In someone else's bar...

That would be the Sat then, probably the most expensive place in Calis......

Fortunately these places will learn the hard way Not many Weatherspoon Pubs closing in Britain but hundreds of others

While I agree 16 TL is excessive for two juices, I also regard that price as the norm in Turkey ( give or take a few Lira). With 3 kids iam well aware of the price a juice can cost ( and efes ,vodka)(not for the kids mind you) and it no longer shocks me when I see theese prices. It is part of the parcell when eating/drinking out in Turkey. One of my hates though is when they pour a juice from a big 2ltr bottle ( often flatt) and charge theese prices.
-
Out of interest, what is the "NORM" price people expect to pay for a fizzy juice in the Fet/Calis area?
Prices vary on location and I would think , and Harbour front Bar/Rest would be more, as in this case is.?
Or am I missing something? :)

Can I ask a question about soft drinks in a different way?
Would you consider large coke/sprite and other brand fizzy drinks and carton orange/peach/cherry/ice tea etc reasonable at 4TL?

I would find it very reasonable nichola... infact I would bite your hand off at those prices, but is it out a 2ltr bottle?
-
I think 4TL is too much but I think the same in the UK - why is a lemonade the same price as a tax laden beer? 4TL (£1.37) is relatively ok I suppose but it wasn't too long ago that a large Efes was 2.5 ;)
I also agree that use of 2 litre bottles should be outlawed! Especially for mixers, nothing worse than a lovely vodka, ruined by flat coke.
-
now now Scuner dont you turn this into a price of Effes fred, this is all about the price of fizzy pop.
-
Absolutely not jacqtay :) we use 1 litre bottles and the turnover is very high so not flat at all, or you have the choice of a can in most cases for fizzy drinks.
-
I would expect nothing else from a fine establishment like yours ;)... Hubby told me so. ;)
Point being for me ,as a mother of 3,, I do not find 16 tly a ripp off if we are sitting harbour front Bar/Rest. .... thats £2.80 ish a large coke.... I pay £2.40 ish here in Edinburgh when we eat out.
The price of a juice is over priced in most places , not just Turkey.
-
Not all expensive. I love pomegranate juice and a large freshly squeezed pomegranate juice is only 3ytl at a couple of places on the prom
-
I know of at least 2 places that buy the cheap cola and fizzy orange from Bim at 1.60ytl for 2.5 litres, then decant them into Coca Cola and Fanta bottles. That is a huge profit margin.
