Title: '179' Does it work?
Post by: corbindallas on October 16, 2012, 07:03:08 AM
Has anyone used the '179' service? Did you find it useful? Did they even respond? Set up in 2011 to help tourists with complaints on services  by the Governor of Mulga, it is supposed to be a type of complaint hotline with English speakers available 24 hours during summer and office hours in winter. I tried their e mail a few times and never even got a response, I see others post reference to it for issues in shops and it made me wonder if it has ever achieved anything since it's set up?

Worked for me some time ago  when I was living on  a small site owned by a Turkish man.My daughter came over from UK for her holiday in July and he started building work with dust and rubble everywhere ruining the pool area . Asked him to stop work as it wasn't legal in the summer months and he refused. Telephoned 179 and explained to an english speaking lady and in 24 hours he was stopped from doing any more building work until October. Have to say they were very helpful on the telephone.
