I had an angiogram on Tuesday and I have to say I have nothing but high praise for the staff and consultants at Broadgreen. It was a pretty painless experience albeit very weird!!
However, I am now recovering at home and my arm is bloody killing me!! Has anybody else experienced this and, if so, how long before the aching pain goes away???

Did they find a heart then?

I have had an angiogram via the upper thigh. I didn't mention this in response to your earlier post saying you were facing it since my experience was not very fortunate. Following the procedure I experienced some pain, but worse, loss of proper nerve response from the front part of my leg down to my ankle. I say "proper" response since I was getting "false" pain feedback from my leg when it wasn't damaged but no sensation when real damage was being done. I had to go back to the hospital and was diagnosed with having a False Aneurism - essentially the hole through which they put the angiogram tube had not healed over and I had internal bleeding. This is very rare, occurring in only 2% of cases. I was operating on within hours of being examined and assured that once the bleeding was stopped everything would be back to normal. Unfortunately it wasn't and I still have no proper sensation from my right leg which I frequently injure because I can't feel when I am bruising or tearing it.
So, if you have any doubts about your recovery from the procedure I would strongly advise you to contact the hospital for advice. Sorry to be so negative. Remember my case is extremely rare - very few people have problems and, if they do, nearly all of them have a complete recovery following treatment.

Broad green is a wonderful hospital, they saved Tony's life there too. If you have any worries following this procedure then please ring them up and ask is this normal, they will be able to advise you.

My Father in law had an Angiogram at broad green with no problems at all other than discomfort for a few days. I have a colleague who also had an angiogram through his groin, his plug (what they bung the artery up with afterwards) came away, his leg swelled to twice its size and was black & blue from top to bottom. He was in agony with it for weeks due to the swelling.
He was told it is a very rare occurrence though.
Good luck with the recovery Russ.
