Post by: Shamless2 on October 26, 2012, 17:14:15 PM: Oddly enough I drove through Gloucester and Forest of Dean yesterday and was amazed by the colours of the foliage, I was talking to a colleague on the phone at the time and said I wished I'd a camera, it was beautiful.

We are very fortunate at the moment to enjoy two very extreme .. but both beautiful locations :)

The first set of photographs was taken at the National Arboretum, Westonbirt. This homes the British national collection of Japanese Maples, which accounts for the vividness of the colours. This set is more restrained being composed of native trees (with the possible exception of some of the evergreens). The photographs are taken at our private arboretum. Alright, it is not exactly "ours"; and it is not really "private"; but it is the view we enjoy from the back of the house - "over the garden fence" - and we take a proprietary interest in it.
