Title: Dave Lee Travis Arrested.
Post by: valleyboy on November 15, 2012, 14:11:19 PM
It has just been announced another "iconic"  :-\ BBC personality from the 70's / 80's Dave Lee Travis has been arrested by police following an investigation. They have said it is separate from the JS events. So maybe he really was a "Hairy Monster" !, so sad, as many of us grew up watching and listening to these people, does this tarnish our nostalgia as well as their reputations  ????

Not according to the newspapers.  They say it is all part of the same investigation.

Arrested under the same investigation, operation Yew tree, but comes under the category of "Others" i.e. not an incident that occured with Jimmy Saville.

I used to work with a girl who married DLTs roady and I know they toured alot with him back in the day when he was DJing. I remember her saying what a lovely guy he was & never had a bad word to say about him  : :)

I was away with no internet when this story broke. I have to agree with Linda, DLT was quite local to my home town and regularly there. I have never heard anyone say anything bad about the guy (unlike Savile, who was well known at Stoke Mandeville of course, also not far from me).

I cannot see for a minute DLT being involved in anything sordid. I also get the impression that they just looked for someone with a similar cv and era to Savile - or perhaps someone else decided to implicate him. If I am wrong I will apologise but for now my sympathies are entirely with Mr. Travis.
