And very nice it was too :)
Seems quiet here without me, I'll soon sort that out ;)
For anyone interested, here are some photos of our visit to Argyll - a first for us and there's no chance of it being the last...

One day the internet will be almost exclusively owned by Facebook, Tripadvisor and Google. Little specialist sites like this are all losing topics to Facebook and even through all that we still keep a healthy level of visits and page views - it is posts that we get fewer of these days. Posts generate posts and a lack of posts generates a lack of posts, I've said that before - that is the beginning middle and end of whether forums succeed.
So every time someone decides to post their news/event/question/review/joke on Facebook or Triopadvisor rather than a forum, Facebook become even bigger and get a firmer grip on you, and small niche sites on every subject under the sun one step closer to the decline setting in.
I don't much care - we've had 10 good years :)
But thanks for asking ;)
-
I should also mention that November has always been fairly slow...
-
How did you all manage to sleep in that phone box for a long weekend ?? ;) 8)
-
;D Thought the same thing myself Gordon!
But I'd also noticed how quiet it is on here now. Maybe, as Scunner says, November is always a quiet month. I hope it's just that because I'm not on Facebook or Twitter and don't wish to be, I enjoy reading , and occasionally replying to, the posts on here and getting invaluable information and tips about Calis and it's surrounding area and wouldn't want to see it disappear. :(

...someone say something controversial - that always revs things up. Should be a topic of it's own - Controversy.

Hubby did a lot of work in the Argyll area after we got married (before mobile days ) I wonder if that was one of the phone boxes he called me from?
Did you stop at Inverarnan Hotel after Crianlarach???
-
It rings a bell Heather (the hotel not the telephone box) but didn't stop there.
-
Put it on your list for your next visit. Good stop for lunch.
-
Glad to hear you enjoyed your break Scunner. Weather wasn't bad for you either. Was the chainsaw place en route to Dunoon?
:)
-
As I told you already in the chat room, yes it is :D

Will do Heather - thanks for that. We stopped at a lochside cafe for 5 drinks (soft/coffee) and 5 cakes/scones...£24!!! Luckily, my mum had said she'd get it. She said that just after we ordered the drinks.
And just before we ordered cakes.

Looked like a lovely spot where you were Keith. Hope you've come back fully "unwound".
Regarding the other issue, I can Eff & Blind on FB but I still prefer CBF

Just as well you got away home on time. The Rest & Be Thankful road has had yet another landslide and has been closed all day. You'd have had a mega detour to get home otherwise.
:D
-
Yes and the worst affected areas start at the beginning of our route home and follow it right across as far as flooded Comrie - we must have just been ahead of each incident. We thought the check out time (10am) was a bit mean and too early - seems it saved us from a nightmare journey home.

Watched the landslide on webcam yesterday. Road opened late yesterday afternoo. Drove over it today and all credit to Transerv. Not as much as a pebble left on the road. Great clean up job and let me get to go to Dunoon today.
