We are from London and have been owners of a property in Calis for 8 years. During this time we are always suprised to hear a southern accent, although having said that I must admit we did notice more 2012.
Do you think Calis is predominantly a destination for holiday makers/property buyers from the north of the UK? Scunner, you may have a good idea from the 'where are you' map.
If so, why do you think that is?

If this forum is anything to go by it is pretty evenly spread.
I guess though we would have to take into account that anywhere north of watford gap will not have broadband and therefore will struggle to use this website or computers in general
I'll get my coat! ;)
-
Never mind your coat, I would suggest a decent pair of running shoes :)
-
I agree with Steve (on the map point, not the rest ;) ) - but from an estate agency point of view I have always noticed that purchasers were far more likely to be from the North of England. No idea why...
-
You prob'ly ain't eard us suvveners mutch 'cos we carnt get a feckin word in edgways !
-
Probably cos its permanently flippin freezin up North so we need the sun more to stop us having that blue tinge !
-
On our complex we have 10 apartments. Of those, 2 Welsh :) 5 Northerners 2 southerners, 1 vacant but owned by Northerners. But it's the Southerners you can hear 1st and loudest. (I don't mean you the Hydes if you are reading this).

Anyone that lives south of Thelwall Viaduct is a Southerner to most Northerners.
-
Careful ! ;)

I think people from Leicester are midlanders and people from Nottingham are northerners. So there is my line.

Very very rarely do you hear southern accents from the majority of visitors around Hisaronu during the season.. also the gangs of girls parading down bar street at night are always northerners :-[ On our complex of ten we have, one swede, three brummies (including midlands) two northerners, four southerners ( me included )

People from Northampton are southerners and people from Coventry are Midlanders. My lines are becoming quite clear now :)

Who writes them for you?
-
All my own work :D
-
Well as long as you don't count Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and, of course, the historic county of Bristol as part of The South I won't complain.
-
How to annoy a Colwyn ;D :o--- put him in "the south" with Essex :) :)
-
Anyone South of Teeside is a Southerner and even the Smoggies are stretching it.If you are below me to the right on the map you are a South Easterner if you are below me to the left you are a South Westerner. If you are Weslh ,Irish or Scots you are foreign - simples !
-
I live in England but I'm 120 miles north of Manchester, so Manchester is the midlands and anything below Birmingham is the south, so there.
-
I spent three years in Newcastle and found very few Geordies had a clue about geography.
