Title: flythomascook sale
Post by: Highlander on January 09, 2013, 12:37:28 PM
Thought I'd found "reasonable" flights until it transpired that they have exclude the luggage costs from the flight price and that it costs another £ 76.00.

 :( :( :( :( :( :(

I'm surprised that a seasoned traveller such as yourself didn't see that one coming   ;)

My memory is failing with the passing of the years SteveJ but I'm convinced that the last time I booked it was only the upgrade to 20kg that was extra.

If it's been a few years since you used them, then yes I think your memory serves you well. Fly Thomas Cook used to include 15kg of baggage which you could, for a price, increase to 20kg.

I have just had an email from TC telling me its their biggest ever sale.
Funny how the prices rise just before their sale.

I booked 2 flights last night for Easter @£647.
I got an email this morning from "Fly Thomas Cook - Payday flight Sale - up to £30 off‏"
I have just checked the same flights and they are now £20 dearer.
Some sale, how they get away with this is beyond me.

I was booking a flight for my mother for mid-April and last week is was advertised (one way) as £105

This week it is in the sale - reduced from £125 to £115

I agree - they clearly aren't governed by the same retail laws - probably because it is an internet sale - whereby you have to really have something on sale at that price in the recent past for a minimum number of days.

Although when I did finally book it - they were only £19 one-way for her 20 kilos whereas Thomson coming back are £24

It really is about time we saw some standardisation of necessary options was legislated for?  :(

I found a flight to match our return flight, going out mid April £45 each plus bags
we return on in June for £46 each,  ;D

Just as a follow on from my earlier post about the flight for my mother.
I booked on Monday at £115 in a "sale" ending midnight Tuesday.

However after Loz's post on I checked again and it had gone down to £99

This morning (after the sale) - it is £94

Am I glad it is only my inheritance I am spending !!

Seriously I am thinking of making an official complaint to Watchdog or similar as this is blatant second hand car dealer tactics >:D

The way they will get away with it is because the price of seats increases as the plane fills, therefore the more people that book the higher the price goes, sale or not.

Sorry but that must be Royal "We" as the cheapest flight I can remember to Dalaman was £200.00 return.
Maybe there was flight from Scotland in the 1960's as low as £78.00.
I have booked our flights fpr just under £800.00(for two return) and that is only including suitcases.  As T.C. have franchised our flights from Aberdeen to Turkish Airline, so we know there will be no pre-booking seats together and we don't even know if there will be food on the flight...  Last year when this happened we complained to the Trading Standard who were appalled that T.C. sold flights to customers and then told them they had no idea if they could book seats together or if they could get meals .

I paid £78 return for this year EDI to DLM (£78.98 to be precise) on easyjet - that was in the moments when the new flights were released and you couldn't book on the website, just using the iphone app. This is for early season flights.

I paid £78 return for August flights with Aegean about 4 or 5 years ago.
Those were the days!

I remember paying £300.00 dead for 4 return flights in August a few years back - from Dalaman to UK. Aegean Airlines - sorely missed.

I booked 2 one way flights in june from dalaman to manchester which were quoted in euros and got charged £14 more for the conversion to sterling.Bit steep i thought.
Thomas cook do give you the option to let your bank convert it but there is no difference.

My sister just booked a week's holiday to Olu in May from Aberdeen.
Travel Republic were £150 cheaper than Thomas Crook for the same holiday!
