I was wondering today about some of the regulars of yesteryear, who don't seem to be around on CBF or indeed in Turkey these days. In particular I was thinking about Linda & Carl - does anyone know what they are up to?
Feel free to ask about people you remember and wonder what ever happened to them too :)

oh yes, Linda 1953, lol, strangely enough I have often thought about LindaCarl, never met them, but only posted on FB Calis about her tonight because I saw an ad for manuka honey, , but never heard since their ordeal about the house, her posts were so long but she really did try to help, I hope they are ok.

I would love to meet up with all the old telmessos crew, Ronan and Jo i think moved to koycegiz last I heard, Christine, and another woman I cant think of her name....and the couple that were on I want that house with daughter Robyn, I think they still have a holiday home in Calis

Ah the old halcyon days Tinx - good times back then :)
Christine (and Keith) are another couple who have vanished off the radar - last I heard they were buying a village house in Kargi or one of those Dalaman Road villages, but that was many years back now. Ronan & Jo I am not sure but still in Koycegiz - he did come to CBF once a couple of years ago to sell some computer games which was touching.
The 'I want that house' couple were Alan and Dawn (and still are). We met them around 3 years ago with Cenk & Olga for a meal at Kale Park and got a Christmas card in December just gone from them.
I don't know what happened to the woman who's name you can't remember ;)

Sadly Linda had to leave us in the end, entertainment turned to something a little less fun.
It amused me that once she moved to Istanbul, she instantly became an expert on Turkish law and Turkey itself :D

Like Scunner i wonder about Linda and Carl,very surprised they have disapeared as they got a lot of help and support from a lot of members, i hope that they are both well,also miss postings by doll ,a lovely lady.
On the other side of the coin i dont miss the miserable old git at all

She is still about. She was at The Rixos at Xmas.. Not just people disappearing form the forum. Lots disappearing from Calis...Fethiye and ovacik. Loads gone back to England...

I miss Tribalelder - Brian, who went back to the UK last year was it the year before that!
I remember Linda 1953 was unceremoniously ex-ponged during the campaign to free Tom and Misha during which she said she would eat her socks if we managed to free them! There was a lot of talk about birds in cages in Istanbul and how we were all wasting our time... and on and on it went until the plug was pulled ;)

I miss Brian too - I mentioned recently that we saw him in Calis during our visit last May. I wish he'd come on here more often but I'm sure he has a full life without us :)
I've never known anyone look more comfortable and at home living in Turkey that our Tribalelder.

'Little' is amazingly accurate too. He falls into a small (sorry Gary!) category of people for me who are irritating in the extreme but once gone you can't help but miss them :D

Just to let you know I'm still in the land of the living thanks to medical science and a bloody clever vascular surgeon.
Haven't been to Calis for many years. The last time was when I sold my little place on Cicek. It held too many memories after my dear wife died in 2004 so it had to go. I still look in on the forum from time to time. I believe I was member No 7 and eventually Scunner awarded me the title of "Father of the house" lol.
I'm 78 now and don't travel abroad any more, I'm catching up on all the parts of England I've missed out on and enjoying it immensely.
I'm still in touch with a few of the oldies such as DaveM, Yesilev, Sammyjorush and not forgetting the dreaded Scarey once in a while.

If your thinking of keith and christene from telmosses last time i saw her at my place a few years ago now they had split up i assume from her reaction,also brian and christene have recently sold up and gone back to england.Thats little ex sas man brian who used always be out walking his doverman dog near cicek brummie brian,strange he never told no one,and i dont think anyone new that his place was up forsale and had been sold.another one hits the dust.

Someone I often wonder about is the lovely Dawn, who has daughters Vicky and Zoe and had a place down Koca Calis end. Does anyone have any news of her?

Yes, open the member list and click "Date registered" and it will sort by that.

Interesting looking at the start of the forum and the names, mine only comes up Nov/4 when we were already in Turkey, I was a member of Gary's forum and chatted with Joan Knight prior to our move, then I was fingerstruck, alternative to dumbstruck, and was afraid to join the new forum Calis Beach. How times have changed!
When we lived in the UK prior to our move I did find a contact for Keith Campbell, he had a few properties and quiet happily explained where the properties were and what they were like, nice chap, quite open, what happened to him?

I remember that chap with the Doberman. Didn't know he'd sold up though.
I guess the dream of living abroad only lasts so long. It's amazing how many return home.
Good on those who tried it though. I admire them immensely.

Another one was John Kent, also signed up as ManofKent and later many more - he had rented Stoop's villa and developed something of an obsession with him and Calis in general. A real nutjob :D

Ahhhh - Mr Kent :)
The man who made the threat to drop me in it with the TAX man for renting our property to him for two weeks - because he got upset about something on here.
I called his bluff due to the fact we hardly ever rent it out (this was the first and last time to a stranger) and our costs have always been far more than our income. It was sort of reverse kama that he got stranded for two days due to the site flooding :)
In the end he apologised and blamed Scunner :)

If they have read the thread re wills between Ytgoz and Loz. I am not suprised they are leaving the country.

Another couple just popped into my mind. Does anyone remember Shaun and Sharon - youngish couple (to have retired anyway) who had a place in the Akarca area - she was lovely and he was a strapping big fella with some sort of metabolism defect and if they were walking a fair distance (like into Fethiye) he would have to bring a backpack full of banana sandwiches to get him through the journey.
That sounds like I made it up - it's true!
They returned to the UK in around 2005.

What happened to Phil and Lou? I think they moved to Olu or His after they left their restaurant in Calis.

Were Linda and Carl up in Gunlukbasi? I'm sure they were in the next block to ours and went home a couple of years ago due to ill health. I may be wrong though ........ :)

No they were about half way up (near Aydin Pide) - they had a torrid time with some conman who said he would buy their property then moved people in who trashed it. Oh, and he didn't buy the property after all. It was all on here a few years back.
Stoop - Phil and Lou are back in the UK I think. They went to a hotel in Hisaronu (which is possibly where I saw them last) then down in Olu Deniz. They are on Facebook, check out my friends list.
