Title: I've noticed...
Post by: usedbustickets on February 10, 2013, 16:43:44 PM
With all the rain we have had over the last few days in Calis I've noticed that more motor cyclists are wearing crash helmets.  Is this because:

a) The wet and slippery roads from the rain could cause an accident, and so a helmet, whilst not normally worn, is now a must.

or

b) The helmet keeps your hair dry, and so when the rain stops the fashion conscious motor cyclists can return to the more normal hair to the air style. 8) 8)

I think we should be told.

Definitely wet hair is more frightening to them than brain damage.

I noticed (on the subject of rain)

That if the dark grey clouds start to gather inland (in the east) - forget it, they probably won't even make it to Calis. If they start to gather directly out to sea (to the west), get inside and quickly :D

I've noticed that a bottle of Hardy's Shiraz has dropped from 50TL in Migros/Carrefour to 39TL in Carrefour a couple of days ago and, rather irritatingly as I thought I had got a relative bargain in Carrefour today is down to 32TL in Migros.

On the other hand I failed to notice that some inbred little runt had popped a box of cheep battery hen eggs into the significantly more expensive organic egg carton until I got home. The language in my kitchen was fowl  >:(

Glad I'm drinking Hardy's Shiraz at £4.15. Makes up a bit for the miserable weather.

Things aren't as bad as I thought Nichola - 50 TL for Hardy's Shiraz? I clearly remember it being 50TL in Gima in 2004. A bottle of Hardy's shiraz was over double the price of a bottle of vodka!

I've noticed that Nichola and her fellow wine quaffers have captured this vital thread for their own wine purchasing purposes .... it's got to stop as the original purpose of this post was (possibly) a matter of life or death.....go on clear orf and get your own post  ;)

Now now Mr UBT, sadly you caused all this. All replies are "on topic" because you chose a vague topic title  ;)

So sorry UBT but anyway...   ;)

...Keith its been a good few years since I even bothered to look at the price of Hardy's wine; think it was about 46TL then but desperate measures in desperate times and all that but you are right inflation doesn't seem to have caught up with the price of this particular brand of wine.

And Mary, I struggle to get the eggs out of the polythene seal around the extra packaging inside and around the actual carton box at home so God only knows how they managed it without being noticed in the shop. I was hopping mad though and poor Doğan thought he was going to have to forgo egg on toast for breakfast and go back to change them.

Well if it makes you happy I'm always happy to oblige OBT - its B. No question.

A certain someone won't wear a crash helmet in the summer in case it messes up their hair gelled curly(ish( locks.

I'm sure the main reason they aren't worn by most in summer is because they wouldn't be able to answer their damn mobile phone or send text messages while driving or to be more accurate, attempt to drive. I am often tempted to stick out my finger and just give them a poke; see how they manage to try and do both then!!!!

Much obliged for bringing this to my attention Colwyn.  Actually I am interested in both Motor Cycling and H&S, it's what the yoof of today refer to as a 'mash-up' .... innit!
