Post by: BernieTeyze on February 24, 2013, 20:27:25 PM
Please can anyone tell me if they do set menus and what sort of prices they charge please. Lucky  us have agreed take our 2  girls for the first week of our holiday  bank of mam n dad..
If I could get a price list for end of june 2013 from olu deniz..my budgeting would be alot easier. There will be definately 4 of us but could be 6 if our friends come too.  I,d appreciate any advise thanks we would liketo go when there is some entertainment.

I am not sure they will know the price just now but why not try and contact them through the Forum - their user name is kingsgarden.

Salih's place is excellent value for money and with the fact he will come and get you and bring you back..I don't know how you could not go for a meal at his place.  As far as I know you just pick what you want from his menu and I cannot see the need for a fixed menu as the food is so good and so well priced...
Just book and go it will not break the bank.. how many other places will give you a pick up and drop back service for free??
Read his feedbacks on T.A. and see how many people love the place and return all the time.  I know we would never miss a visit or two or three when we are over.
Just noticed you will be in Oludeniz  :o  how many restaurants there would come and pick 6 people up in Fethiye or Calis and bring them back, and throw in free entertainment with a lovely meal and fabulous views and also free entry to the rock tombs.  I have to say I am amazed and speechless  :o

Amazed AND speechless...for all forum members that wish to put this date in the diary it is the 25th February...

Thank you to all members that replied without the drama..The reason I am asking is that people on TA are mentioning set menus, and as I have never taken two twenty somethings with me before I am trying to budget for a week .

I had no idea what an evening in kings garden entails, thats why I asked the forum.

Meatballs
Chicken casserolle
Pasta

Choice of desserts:

Fruit salad
Pancake

Plus a glass of wıne or soft drınk
Plus tea or coffee

...all for 20 tl (plus free transport of course)

Up in the hills above Fethiye near the rock tombs

Book on line.  However, I personally would not bother with the set menu, as there is so much to choose from the A La Carte.

Yes, high above Fethiye where the amazing rock tombs are - see this topic for a photo that shows just how high above town it is  :)

I think the confusion over the set menu mentioned several times on Tripadvisor is when people have booked through their tour operator. Obviously some sort of fixed price arrangement was made and a set menu was part of that arrangement.

If you are not booking through a tour operator as most CBF members probably don't this wouldn't have applied to you and therefore you would be unlikely to know about it. I hope that helps Bernie.

If you mean the Kale Park, no, they are different.

Scott and lisa, yes they are different. Kings Garden has a great website, and if you contact Salih through here, he soon contacts you when he is free to confirm your booking.

Happy Holidays!

Uesed to go to Kale Park. It's only 5 mns from where we live. The sundays were ok. Then it changed manaegment and had half of it bulldozed down. Haven't been for about two years now but still hear the odd loud music (wedding) in the warm season

Kale Park used to be very good but part of it had to be demolished because they did not have full planning permission.  We haven't been for quite some time but the last time we were there is was beginning to look very tired and uncared for.

I have heard mixed reports about it - so maybe you should try it and see.   It has a wonderful position next to The Castle and views to die for.

Kale Park gradually went downhill.  We used to love to call up for lunch.  Last time we did there was one guy only serving and he was not a waiter.  We got chicken that was not cooked through and all the trapping of the restaurant had gone, even the coffee machine.  I would not recommend a visit, stick with the Kings Garden.    ;)
It's easy to take in the view without calling into the Kale, we have seen lots of people doing it.

Yes I agree with all of that - our early experiences of Kale Park were fabulous, the food was as good as anything we'd had in the Fethiye area and the service was the same. Sadly those days are long gone, we're happy enough to keep the memories. Would never go back unless things changed completely.

Sunday lunch at the King's Garden today was spot on; think I'll have to light the fire and rest up on the sofa and watch a movie now... really lovely to see some familiar faces too   :)

Regarding your point on the tour operators prices for the King's Garden set menus Nichola, I think you are absolutely right. In fact, when we were last there, two "representatives" of one of the big UK holiday companies were in negotiating like rottwelliers - claiming that they could bring coachloads of trade.

I'm fairly sure these are "unofficial" excursions and the reason the price is higher is that these people expect a cut of course.

Book direct with Salih, he gets the same profit, you pay less - as it should be  :)

I remember last year a lady writing on T.A. that she had booked with her Thomson rep in the Oykun and paid £25.00 each for a set menu.  She was annoyed when she got to the restaurant and saw people enjoying the A La Carte and she complained bitterley about her meal.
The reps do get a cut for every booking,   So I concur with Scunner, book directly, it's cheaper and you can pick what you want from the menu.

I have just booked online for the Sunday lunch for 5 May, the day after we arrive . What better welcome could we have? (We'll need transport there- an excellent thing).
