We managed to have some fun with this last year so I thought we could do the same again this year.
The way it works is that I will allocate the runners with a number randomly.
Members who want to participate simply pick the number(s) between 1 and 40 they want. I then publish the list of the runners and the CBF member whose number corresponds to them just before the race.
Unfortunately due to inflation the price of a horse has risen to £ 3.00. Fortunately the same inflationary pressures have not affected the prize will still be to the value of £ 20.00.
It's not too early to pick your number - book early to avoid disappointment.
-
26 please John. Can I pay my £3 into the 3c's shop in Calis? If so I'll add it to the £5 I already owe from Scunners last game & pay next week.

Thanks for getting us off to a flying start.
Payment to the shop will be absolutely fine.

-
If we can help out, can we have 31 & 39? No worries if we're not allowed or if someone else wants them!
-
Can I plump for 22 please?
Will send the money to Keith's Paypal
Cheers,
Kev
-
Thank you very much sokak91 - 22 us all yours.
Lotty - thank you for your kind offer of even more help. There are no "rules" with this. All we have to do is allocate all of the numbers so we can help the kids.
So if you don't mind, I'll ask someone esle to take 31 and/or 39 and in the hopefully hugely unlikely event that no-one takes up the baton then you can certainly have them. Thanks
-
Just a thought, if I may.
It's been a year since we "successfully" ran this. I don't know how many new members we have had in that period but what I do know is that it would be nice if some of those new members would consider joining us with this.
-
Hi John
Could you select two for me please.
(one for myself and the other for OH Sue)
Payment will be via paypal
Many Thanks
Dave. :)
-
John, give me 18,22, and 31, and let me know how to pay.x
-
faymoore - thank you for joining in and helping the kids ;D
I've picked 20 for you and 40 for Sue.
-
laffa - unfortunately sokak91 recently picked 22 so I've give you 18 and 31. Thank you for joining in - hope you are lucky again if you put on a small wager again this year. :)
If you have paypal send money to keith@calis-beach.co.uk
Lotty that's one of your "extra" numbers gone.
-
Ooops. When IS the National?
-
Not for another three weeks mercury - Saturday 06 April.
-
H, what is left please, just realised I haven't got a number yet
-
OK nobody panic (except me of course)
faymoore - I cannot give you 40 because heather07 picked it very early on.
So - I'll give Sue 39 instead and that will take up lotty's "extra" number.
Liz101 - the numbers left are 24, 27, 29, 30, 33, 34, 35 and 37 (I think :-[)
-
Ok 27 for me then & paying to the shop on Monday
-
No sooner said than done liz 101 - thank you so much ;D
-
For anyone looking for a number, and I'm sure there must be, here's the latest runners and riders. Just click on :)

(http://s22.postimage.org/aqay5go3x/sweepstake2.jpg) (http://postimage.org/image/aqay5go3x/)
-
If nobody objects the present Mrs H will take number 24 (Rachel's birthday).
That leaves 30, 34 and 35
-
Just to let everyone know I have received an offer for the last 3 numbers which I am just check.
-
Dear H, how could anybody possibly object to Mrs H taking number 24.
Where would the Calis children be without you and your fundraising ideas and promotions
Hoping that the fact the England got stuffed yesterday has helped you have a lovely Sunday
the fact the Scotland LOST again certainly helped ours along!
-
N we are still happy to have 35 if ok?
-
H
-
Lotty - I am virtually sure the offer I mentioned below and which I am checking will be confirmed which would mean that 35 had already gone.
Thank you so much for offering to help once again. ;D
-
Well done!
-
kevin3 very kindly agreed to take the last 3 numbers 30, 34 and 35
So, once again the members of the Forum have put their hands in their pockets and raised money for the chidren.
A massive thank you to everyone who is taking part. ;D
The final list is as follows and all we need now is for 40 runners to be declared.
(http://s7.postimage.org/jb2csdehz/sweepstake2.jpg) (http://postimage.org/image/jb2csdehz/)
-
H, thanks you so much for this innitiative - just logged on in UK hoping to pick up the odd stragglers and they are all gone! - well done and thank you everyone for supporting this. Best luck to the winner.
-
My pleasure pi55y - it's very easy with so many good people being on here ;D.
Did you get my email.
-
Does anyone know for certain if the horses are numbered 1 to 40 on the day of the race.
-
Paid my money to Anne Jenns last week.
-
It appears that the horses are number 1 to 40 by the weight they have to carry with number 1 being allocated to the top weight.
I don't suppose it matters if I pick the numbers randomly or wait (hehe) for the names.
I plan to draw the numbers tonight but I'll hang on till the names come out before letting members know who they have.
-
Job done - will reveal the results when the final 40 declaration is made on Thursday.
-
Dedication to duty Highlander!
The kids will love ya!
-
Handed it in Mark with the money for the guess the exchange rate... Thanks my love and bigger thanks for the cheddar cheese... xx
-
Here is the result of the draw which will let you check your horse(s) when the list of runners is published tomorrow.
