Title: Slight speeling mistook on ticket
Post by: SteveJ on March 15, 2013, 16:48:53 PM
A pal and I are going out to Calis in April, flying out with TC and back with EasyJet. When I was entering his API information I noticed that on the booking form I had put his first name as Alan but on his passport it's Allan with two "L's". TC allowed me to change the booking without a problem and without a cost. Easyjet on the otherhand wanted to charge me £36 for the extra L.

Needless to say we are going to take a chance at Dalaman that the checkin person is not too "jobsworthy".

Another Easyjet rip off - if they weren't so much cheaper than the others (£67 cheaper than TC for the return flight) I'd stop using them. ;D

You should be OK at Dalaman giving your information is a UK regulation if you fly with a Turkish airline you don't have to give the imformation

I'm not sure if it is that relevant, but my residency book came back with my first name Kieth rather than Keith. Obviously this does not match my passport and in something like 30 arrivals and 30 departures from Turkey over 5 years, nobody ever noticed or if they did, never said a word.

It must depend on who takes the call on the day for Easyjet, I've had to change spellings twice with them, only this week in one case and they have never asked me for money and have been more than happy to change the details.

Because of a glitch on Flybe's website, I booked Mrs Scunner on a flight to Belfast that came out as me when it came to printing off the boarding pass, as it was booked with my credit card. I phoned them 2 hours before we left for the airport (when I had just tried to print off the incorrect boarding pass) and they were fairly accommodating although not apologetic. They said for her to check in at the airport rather than go to the gate.

This she did, and was charged £30 because her hand luggage was too big in one dimension. When she got to the gate, she was surrounded with people who hadn't checked in in person, most of whom had hand luggage far bigger than hers - but they weren't checking it at the gate, just at the check in desk.

So their mistake cost us £30.

Screw your eye up if they ask and take a chance and act dumb on the day.  8)

My personal experience of checking of documentation suggests that there is not too much to worry about.  Some years back I travelled to Turkey on a Jolly Boys Outing.  We had all the usual checks at Gatwick including check in, security, at the gate and at Dalaman through passport control.  It was only then that I realised I was travelling on my 14 year old sons passport.  At that time there was about 10 stones weight difference and I had a beard, never mind the fact that there is an age difference of 30 years!!!  Still I got home alright. ;D

I corrected a spelling on an Easyjet ticket and they didn't charge me - it was only a few hours after booking though.

I'd just call again in a few days - you may get a more sympathetic agent.
