Mwaaah Mwaaah - when doing the Turkish double kiss, which side is first? I believe the answer is that there is no answer and that is unacceptable and causes chaos and awkward moments.
-
When there I find that if I follow tradition and double kiss a man, then changing the Mwaah Mwaah for a faint but audible mmmmmmmm mmmmmmmm when you are near their ear creates more awkward moments
-
Yeah Steve but the question is right side first or left side :D
-
Always left
-
I'd say my right (their left) :(
Not going well so far.
-
Right then left
-
If you do your left first, you'll be doing their left first as well. If you did your left to their right, you'd both have to be facing in the same direction.
Is it me ? :)
-
Yes, right then left. (I think!) :)
-
It's a lot less complicated in Glasgow :)
I would say definitely left.
-
Yes it is you Alan
If I go to the right, I am heading for their left.
If I do left first and they do right first, we'll miss each other completely :D
-
I find it easier just to go full on the lips with a loud smacking noise ,a quick pat of the bum and from that moment its handshakes all round simples!
-
If I go to my right and they go to their left we are both heading the same way and both people are thinking at the same time that they must go further in their chosen direction to prompt the other to give up their direction and go back a bit. In this way, two people kiss almost at pavement level.
-
Left first then right me thinks
-
Their left or your left?
-
A Turkish man shook my son's fiancee's hand, shook my hand and kissed my son on both cheeks. I thought he needed specs!!
-
I think KKOB is right. You are facing each other so it is right cheek to right cheek and left cheek to left cheek - don't know correct order though.
-
Their left or your left?
Both. ;D

Yep...your both right...doh!
...I'm changing my vote....I'm right first
-
Right this is getting complicated
Question now is:
When doing a double kiss, do you first move your head right side or left side :)
Right side first is left cheek to left cheek, left side first is right cheek to right cheek. Possibly.
-
You move your head to the right.
-
I agree. :)
-
That's no more painful noses or embarrassing lip smackers for me and you then!!!
-
If you move your head to the right you are kissing their left cheek first. If you offer your right cheek first you are kissing their left cheek first.
I think kiss right cheek first. :-\
-
I have in the past put a lot of thought into this same question, and decided that the answer is similar to the following - which wire is the live one in any electrical connection and which side of the road is best to use on a dual carriageway, in all cases if you complete the task without injury it does not really matter.
-
That's 2-1 to left cheek first and one abstention :D
-
I'm going for 'high fives'...much easier.
If I have got to do the kissy-kissy thing then I go right cheek to right cheek first. I don't do the mwwaahh sound or even pucker in case any silly noise emerges!
-
What do you do if you are obliged to greet a person whom you secretly consider to be two faced. ???
-
Actually you stay put - then they have to decide - follow their lead, I insist on no tongues.

Or if they talk out of their arse. ;D
-
I would normally do right cheek to right cheek followed by left to left but I agree it is confusing.
However our friendly taxi driver does not do cheek to cheek its more of a dipping of the forehead, right side to right side followed by left to left. (if you go in too quick you dont make the left to left because you are sparked out on the floor) ;D
-
I am not for sure but is the dipping of the forehead more of a compliment from the giver to the the receiver than the cheek to cheek greeting.
-
The biggest respect one I think is the holding and kissing of the back of the other person's hand then raising said hand to touch your forehead. I saw it mainly from younger to elder.
-
i do my left first then right second. hey hoy who cares

This chap only does it the first time we see each other at the start of our holiday and our foreheads actually touch and its done on both sides, so its kind of a mutual thing if you know what I mean.

You should care if there is a right way to do it, it would be respectful to learn what it is.
-
It's always been right to right for me, which is complicated as I am left handed and naturally would do left to left. I also note once you are good friends it's two kisses and then hugs. However, in Holland it's three kisses starting on the right, so at least in Turkey it's not that complicated.
-
Yes Keith, the kissing of hand and raising to forehead is a mark of respect for their elders. It certainly makes you feel your age the first time though lol.

We have a very elderly gentleman neighbour with a wicked sense of humour who sometimes does the hand kissing to people younger than him to see what reaction he gets.
As for the original question, I have been closely monitoring our neighbours who do a lot of kissing, and so far it has always been right cheek first.
-
So, you have been closely monitoring your neighbours kissing have you Jim? :o Does Mrs F know about this? Oh! I forgot, she is back in Scotland just now, well everyone has to have a hobby
;D
-
Definitely left then right
-
Cheek or direction? :D
-
both, but not at the same time

Its quite amazing, how you don't know what you don't know until someone makes a film about it.
-
Ha Ha Angela - but we think we know!!

The blonde has a moustache !!!!! :D :D :D

Move to the right. The Forehead greeting was initially a politcal statement, a certain party's members would greet this way. I agree with Scunner the sign of respect for your elders, kissing the back of their hand and touching your forehead, is lovely to see.
-
I went to do it to Falcon once and he was absolutely mortified :o
-
Ha ha ha :)

Why isn't it blonde? ???
