What establishment along Fethiye harbour is considered to serve the best tasting/value for money breakfast, both Turkish & English?
-
Personally, Loz & I never turn down the chance of a meal, breakfast or otherwise, at Melodi Bar/restaurant, run by Figo & Selma, two of the nicest, most genuine people we have had the good fortune to be friends with. Melodi is on the opposite side of the new area from the waters edge. Well worth a visit. :)

We will second that, the first restaurant we used when we moved to Turkey over five years ago and its still our favourite and now we dont live in Fethiye still visit as often as possible. As Gordon says Selma and Figo are the most hospitable, accomadating couple you could wish to meet, always fresh cooked food and extremely tasty.Lets hope the new park area gives them some extra custom they deserve.

Could not agree more i remember being there one night about 15 years ago figo used to play his turkish instrument at night for entertainment and late that evening a fight broke out between two turkish guys and the guy that got knocked to the ground suddenly started to fire a gun,me selma,my other half dived under the table messey pants time where as mr cool figo was still playing away great couple known them for years will be over soon for 9 weeks so if anyone sees them before give them my regards mustafa and elsie.Mustafa is michael in turkish.

We have been going to the Melodi for many years
Selma & Figo always have a warm welcome & the food is always excellent
I hope the changes in the bay will bring them many customers. They really
do deserve to do well

Sunday buffet breakfast at Bogazici is brilliant, especially the fresh warm bread rolls. You can sit there for ages all for 15 lira!!!!

Are Selma and Figo an older couple? We called to a restaurant in that area last Sept and had a delightful meal. The older lady would come to make sure we were OK and when we complimented her food she stroked my hand and smiled followed throughout the evening by gentle little squeezes on my shoulders. Such a warm and friendly lady who also seemed really motherly. I took to her straight away and I'm not usually keen on touchy feely - but she seemed so genuine.

Bluwise, that is definitely Selma !! it's not just their food that is lovely, ; on our visit to Turkey last year, Figo asked me if I had been to hire a car yet, when I said, "not yet", he gave me the keys to his own car, & said, " I don't use, bring it back before you go to England", !! They have been the best friends we have ever had in any of our travels.
P.S. Figo, ( Fikret) also does the very best iSlim Kebabi in the whole of Turkey !!
Figo is from Erzerum, the home of some of the best food in Turkey, & will try to satisfy the 'food wishes' of any customer!!
-
That really is a wonderful story Gordon and we will definitely visit again. Tell me, what is an iSlim kebabi? Would like to try it (I think)
-
iSlim Kababi is minced lamb formed around a cheese filling & then covered in strips of Patlican (Aubergine), some places put the cheese on top of the kebabi, but Figo does the cheese inside, the dish is served with a rich tomato sauce, & accompanied by rice and/or other vegetables. Loz loves it, I don't eat aubergines, but have tried it after removing this, & it is superb !! Enjoy. Only problem, Figo likes to have advance warning for this dish, as all of his meals are cooked fresh, & this meal takes a little longer!!!! Ask Nigel & Iain from Kismet about Figo's cooking !! :D

Thanks again Gordon, will definitely be giving that a try in June -
