Just out of interest Nichola, how much was it a kilo? The funny thing is I have just been pricing it up here in UK to make smelly bags for the drawers ready for our summer guests at our Isle of Wight house, and even despite having a lavender farm on the island, it is still very expensive. I resorted to lining the drawers with lavender sprigged wallpaper and spraying them with lavender air freshner!!! May just spend some of the summer making them in Calis if it cheaper there.

Sorry, just see your post Pi55y...
You can buy it pre-packed in 100 gram bags which I think were 5TL each
I bought 600 grams loose at a slightly discounted price of 25TL
Hope my reply isn't too late :)

Thanks Nichola. See you Saturday at the taster afternoon - looking forward to it :)

Hi Nichola, glad you got your lavender! I wanted to add theres people with a farm harvesting it up in Kayaköy. I met them at a FIG tabletop a few months ago and they were selling lavendar bags etc. An article about them on AGuidetoFethiye.com. Perhaps you can go and buy lavender flowers direct from their place?
Shame price seems to be rising, I remember it used to be so reasonable in UK, I wonder if theres a crop shortage or its difficult to grow these days? I am no expert on this. Personally, I love Lavender smell and I recently found a lovely cologne here, its always in my handbag, I am addicted to it :D

When I was younger I always thought lavender was for old ladies!!!! Of course, I'm an old lady myself now and have discovered that it is lovely. For my birthday last year one of my friends bought me one of these lavender reed diffusers - absolutely gorgeous - I have been out and bought more. All these years I deprived myself, well you live and learn.

What is a lavender reed diffuser Marggie?
Pi55y told me that it was £9.99 for an incy wincy pack of lavender in the UK so definitely significantly cheaper here.
-
Nichola, It is bottle partially filled with lavender oil with about a dozen reeds in it, they soak up the oil and give off the scent.
All the candle people have them, as do Marks, Next and a whole host of shops.

Lavender is particularly helpful for Insomnia, Lavender bag, (small otherwise overpowering)
placed under a pillow or between two pillows if you are filthy rich like me and can offord to sleep on two :) then the top one turned over, have a calming effect and can help relax you.
Usualy of course by bedtime I am semi conscious from Aperitif, Wine and Digestive but the Memsahib swears by it, or was it at me? never sure :)
