Through a mutual friend, I received a communication from a gentleman called Talip, who is apparently the owner of the relatively new Cadde Cafe, Bar and Ocakbasi near Fethiye harbour.
I found his email bursting with joie de vivre and uplifting sentiment. This is quite rare, I normally read stacks of PMs and emails from people saying how unfair a review was or how they didn't find someone's comment funny at all. Almost uniquely too - Talip explained that he had a good understanding of how CBF (a forum he reads and enjoys) works - and only went on to explain to me the procedure for new members and advertising - and get it right!
So the main points are that Talip would love to share details of his restaurant with you all, but is super cautious of doing it wrong or receiving negativity for doing it. But he also wants to give CBF members a 10% discount just for mentioning that Scunner sent you ;)
This is exactly how I think things should be done - don't turn up and paste 59 paragraphs and run away - contact us, tell us you don't want to make a mistake and trust me we shall move mountains to steer you through and spread your word. A CBF discount is the icing on the kek.
So ladies and gentlemen, can I introduce the charming Talip, owner of Cadde cafe bar and Ocakbasi, it's near the harbour apparently. Talip also suggested what we could write for the forum if we thought it was ok to write anything at all - with instructions to edit as required. But I like it as written, and here it is:
Hello Çalış Beach Forum Members! Cadde Cafe would like to make you aware of a new and unique concept in food serving right around the corner from Fethiye's Marina. Since mere words might not do it justice we invite you to check us out first hand. We will thank you by taking 10% off of the total bill just for mentioning Calis Beach Forum and telling our dedicated staff that Talip ( the owner ) or Scunner sent you. Come one, come all! We have 4 floors, each with its unique menu and character!
*This offer is effective immediately, and we reserve the right to discontinue it at any point in the future, by posting a notice to that effect in the Calis Beach Forum.
Cadde Cafe serves ''probably the best food for 50 miles.''
Regards,
Talip
All the best to you Talip, I like you already :)

I saw this place the other day it is on the same side of the road as Finnans and Garanti walking towards the ampitheatre, looks very upmarket, I remember seeing and smiling at the sign outside "probably the best food for 50 miles"
-
Been in the Cadde, and very nice it was too, the views are great from the top floor and service is smart. If the Ocakbasi is the one next to the park with Fethi Bey's statute it's a double result as we use that often. They have very nice staff in there.

We had dinner that there last night with a group of 20 people.
I ordered beef noodles which, according to the waiter, was cooked chinese style.
When the food arrived I was surprised to see lots of mozarella on top of the noodles.
A slight problem since I can't stand cheese. The smell alone makes me nauseous.
I called the waiter and explained the problem and they offered to change the food.
I chose a chicken shish from the ocakbasi since that would be the quickest.
It arrived soon and was absolutely delicious. One of the best chicken I have ever eaten.
Later the owner came and apologized. I explained that I normally always ask whether a meal contains cheese but that I hadn't done that because the waiter had said it was cooked chinese style. The owner replied that the chinese kitchen doesn't use cheese so that it was understandable that I hadn't asked.
He went on to explain that they try to do "extra" at the restaurant and therefore had added so much cheese to the meal.
He apologized but also thanked me because it had been a good lesson to them and had shown that the staff was lacking a bit in knowledge. They had never classified the noodles as chinese. This was an interpretation of the waiter.
I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. The owner coming to our table to apologize and instead of him being defense about it, he saw it as a opportunity to learn something from it.
The prices are very reasonable so yes, I fully recommend Cadde and will definitely go again!
-
By the way, I was also impressed with the waiter.
20 different main courses had been ordered and he knew by heart who had ordered what.
He didn't check or ask, just gave everybody the correct meal.
And he was very pleasant and polite without trying to be your "new best friend".

Sounds like one to try in four weeks time! ;D
It's on my 'to do' list!
-
Yes, Mrs KKOB and I will also be making a point of visiting in a few weeks time.
-
I'm just drawing a 50 mile radius circle on a map so I can see where an even better place might be.
;D

Yes, Mrs KKOB and I will also be making a point of visiting in a few weeks time.
You know what they say KKOB, "Come one, come all!"
-
We have been several times and the food and service is consistently good and the prices are very reasonable..... especially considering the view from the top floor!
-
Is it opposite the taxi rank? I am struggling to place it and I would like to come all.
-
I'd have to say that I sent me
-
Trying to place it myself, Is it on the corner opposite the beledisya cafe and the pastapur entrance.?If it is then they aso have live music on the 3rd floor (I think) and an open roof terrace which we have had coffee on in the summer and offers superb views almost 360o.
-
Yes that's where I'm thinking too Dave.
-
I'd have to say that I sent me
But does that still qualify you for the discount? ;)
-
I don't know, it's another deep question that!
-
I'll say Talip sent me, I don't want to miss out on the 10% discount ;)
-
Yes it is opposite the Belediye cafe at one of the entrances to Paspatur. Infinity jewellers are on one of the corners opposite, and Nike shop diagonally opposite.
-
Old Arena then?

Thanks for that Rindi. Will definitely give this place a try. Looks lovely.
-
thanks rindaloo for the vid
could you tell me do they have a lift?
-
On my list. I'm sure we will pass it on our bikes :)
-
We went in October last year. We went on the top floor for drinks only. Views were great.
Lower floors had live music on from what I can remember.
-
Will give a try and report back.
-
Old Arena then?
It is not as far down as old arena just walk past Finnans and garanti you will come to it.
-
Certainly not as far down towards the theatre as Arena. Before Lacoste shop. Think maybe you are thinking of Telmessos jewellers that Arena overlooks? Cadde is close to Infinity jewellers.
-
Puma, I confess I havent been there. Looked for it yesterday, but had no idea where to start. So had a look on net when I got home and found the vid. Looks good, eh!
-
Its really dead easy to find. As Karaokemark says past the banks then look left its set back a bit and opposite the Nike shop.

Great to see Cadde getting some well deserved reviews and recommendations on CBF. I've been on numerous occasions and consider it one of the best places to go for a night out in Fethiye, particularly when the live music is on. It's very easy to find, opposite the taxi rank & Ozsut, located on a corner on one of the entrances to Paspatur. Cadde is a striking building set over 4 floors with fantastic views from the top terrace. You can choose to eat on the terrace as well as the Ocakbasi and there is also Cadde Lokantasi/Cafe housed in an adjacent building on street level.
On Thursdays and Fridays you can enjoy the live Turkish music from Bora Golbasi and his band. Bora works exclusively for Cadde, he is a fantastic singer and entertainer and famous in his own right in Turkey as he came 3rd on O Ses Turkiye (The Voice) in 2012 8)
I love the fact that Cadde's popularity is currently predominately Turkish but it's great to see that Talip is also wanting to encourage more British customers and I'm sure once the season begins it will become more and more popular. The staff are both friendly and professional and as some members have mentioned already, they embrace any feedback you give them and act upon it accordingly, which is very refreshing to see! If you have the stamina to carry on partying then Cadde is perfectly placed on the edge of Paspatur to enjoy some more of Fethiye's nightlife. I hope Cadde continues to go from strength to strength 8)

As said by many, it's very nice. We had coffee and a snack there this morning.

how fab does that look? We love those bars along there that have terraces facing the marina- though to be fair one of them ripped us off on on a bottle of wine last year , one of our party is receiving counselling it cost that much! Not this place though !
What a brill video it took my back to around 1991 when we spent a day on the lagoon at Olu Deniz on a pedallo with the then barman at the Eroz and a very glammy friend of ours , that was the song we were singing, what memories! The barman is now in fashion in New York and has an apartment facing the Hudson river and my friend married a millionaire and lives in Dubai! - Us? well, we'll be trying Cadde this year for sure!
-
Tried it Sunday evening just for a drink.Nice views , lots of young people in there ,will be lovely on the top terrace in the summer Lower floors all in darkness when we went, that's why we didn't eat there as upstairs a little chilly, will give the food a go when weather warmer.
-
Walked past it many times on our way in and out - resisted the temptation to go in and say Scunner sent me but only because all our meals we had already long been arranged with friends - and whenever we passed we had no time to pop in as we were heading somewhere - but it looks very impressive indeed.
-
we past it last week and the music sounded fab, will call next time but looks lovely.
-
We went in the year it opened and went to the terrace. Fab views, complimentary wraps for the ladies if there's a chill in the air (back then). Decorated like a gentleman's smoking club - only the Turkish idea of a smoking club. If I recall a very large wooden Spanish galleon drinks cabinet.......Quirky, but very nice.

I was unable to edit my post so just wanted to correct/add that the live music is on Friday's & Saturdays and now additionally on Wedesdays 8)

We went along last night to celebrate Chris's birthday, the outside table on the 4th floor terrace was just perfect, the views over the marina are wonderful but become spectacular as the sunsets. We ordered a top quality bottle of wine, I had the spicy prawns with garlic bread to start and Chris went for the stuffed mushrooms, both were delicious and really well presented, for our main course Chris went with the Chicken Stroganoff which was really nice and I went for the Cadde Steak which was strips of steak served with yoghurt, a side plate of baby sweet corn and really well presented assorted vegetables really complimented what was a delicious meal. By the end of the meal, the sun was about to set and I thought it might be a good idea to see it down with a coffee and a brandy (which turned out to be a double double) which of course I drank as not to offend!
We played our normal "guess the bill" game (Rock n Roll, I know! ) and both went with around 185 lira so we were really pleasantly surprised when it was just 130 lira. Now for the spooky bit, we had discussed about asking for the CBF discount but decided not to as we thought it was already great value and the service was impeccable, I called for the bill and the waiter came up and said "Did you come from Calis Beach Forum?" I said we did and he knocked a further 15 lira off our bill, a really nice surprise to end what was a memorable evening.
If you go along to Cadde, don't expect a huge expansive menu because you will be disappointed, the snack menu is a lot bigger than the dinner menu but personally speaking, I never have a problem with any restaurant that limits their menu to what they do well and on the basis of last nights experience, the Cadde do it really well.
-
Good to know that the food is good Rimms. We had lunch there last summer and my chicken caesar salad unfortunately turned out to be lettuce, grilled chicken and mayonaisse...very disappointing. The restaurant itself is lovely though and the staff were attentive. I'll happily go back now and even try the food again :)

Totally off topic I know but love the new avatar Rimms ;D

Love this place for a chilled out lunch, great home made lemonade, wonderful food fab iced coffee. It's so peaceful in there, they don't speak much English and usually have Turkish customers when we are in. It's our current favourite place for lunch.
-
Have to agree with you there Jacqui. We went there for lunch when we were over in May. Beautiful hot day, sat up on the terrace. Just a large salad each (I also had the lovely homemade lemonade - 2 glasses in fact! :o ;) ). Prices very reasonable.
Just need to keep fit to get up those stairs!!
-
Is this still open, was in Fethiye today & it loooked closed unless I got the wrong place...
-
It had to move because of earthquake damage. Read about the move on T.F.L. It's next to the Car Cemetery in Paspatur. So we went over last week. What a let down. Scruffy upstairs bar. No customers there. Ordered beer and home made lemonade got a glass of sprite. No food anymore. Guy said they might have food later in the year. Also said they would not be moving back to old site...bitterly disappointed, this was such a great place for lunch once, will not return.
-
Didn't he realise that there was earthquake damage when he moved in? There hasn't been a significant quake since the last really big one last year...
-
So disappointed! Started reading the thread, thought "must go there", noted all the directions, looked up the link, noted phone numbner, times of live entertainment etc, got to end of thread - oh dear, what a shame!
-
awww I'm same with Arty I was looking forward to this :(
Such a shame they wouldn't keep up with the same standard at the new place :(
o well I will have to wait now for next summer to find a place like this :(
-
I went there twice last month hoping to eat there, found it closed both times (I understand why now) but no explanation as to why or where they had gone, I was so looking forward to eating here after the hype about it last year.
-
They had been in the building way before the Earthquake. A shame they have had to move, we went there a few times just for a drink and to listen to a band.
-
Still the same "misleading" advert on the front page of Land of Lights!
-
Saw that too George and was very surprised.

The original Cadde site is in the process of being demolished today.
-
Lets hope they build it again, it was such a nice place and we miss it.
-
They were putting in the foundations for a new building today....
-
Keep us informed please Phil...
-
Not much to see at the moment but this was taken yesterday....
