I thought it was impossible to change old money now, but reading on T.A. that you can change it at the Ziraat Bank in Fethiye.
So, if anyone has any, this is the place to go.. ;)

Would be good if they would exchange at face value Jacqui - we still have some notes with all the zeros on! : :)

The enquiry on T.A. was someone wanting to change an old 5 lira note... So Bluwise, what do you think they would get for that??

Half a pint of Effes Jacqui. ;) :)

Frankly, I couldn't be bothered to stand in the queue for a 5tl note! Life's way too short. Just for info, Ziraat will also exchange damaged notes, I remember going with someone who'd washed a 100tl note in her husband's trouser pocket & none of the shops would accept it. I don't suppose that's what they mean by money laundering!

Changed some late last year for our daughter as she still had a few from a previous visit, luckily did not need to stand in line, I asked the security gaurd which teller I should go to and he took me into one of the offices and got notes swapped in a few minutes.

Ziraat is a Government Bank and they will change them, same as the UK, certain bank are allowed to change.
The old lady who lived next door to my parents hid over £10,000 in old notes dating back to early 1960's, she was a little dotty bless, My parents took her and the notes to the bank arrange for them to be bank in to her account, this was only 10years ago.
